Dr. Simon Jeremy Fisher, MD

Very poor experience with this doctor. Absolutely no bedside manner or patient care. He was extremely condescending and rude.

Terrible experience with this doctor whose bedside manner was closer to a disinterested, non-people person scientist than a doctor who actually has to interact with his patients. He was condescending and rude. My mother and I went in to see this doctor as it has been very difficult to get a handle on her thyroid. It was recommended we see an Endocrinologist and we trust the University of Utah, so we were happy when we found him. When we arrived at the facility, we were very impressed with the building and the nurse was over-the-top friendly and considerate. However, from the moment the doctor walked into the room, he was abrupt and aloof and downright rude at times. When he asked my mother who was handling her diabetes, she told him that she hoped he would as he was the Endocrinologist who specialized in such things. He replied by telling her that he would just assume someone else would be helping her with that for now and he only wanted to deal with her thyroid. My mother had a… traumatic brain injury last year and I have been attending all of her appointments with her. He looked at my mom and said, "So, what? She's speaking for you now?" He became overly annoyed by any questions and was actually surprised when I recapped what he had told us correctly. He was extremely unprofessional and even answered his wife's phone call (who was shopping at Costco and needed his opinion about something) and though he told her he would call her back in a few minutes, the fact he even answered it was asinine. Within a minute or two following that phone call, he said it was time to wrap up the appointment because he had other things to get done. (Keep in mind, my mother was a new patient and we had only been with him about 15 minutes or so.) While he did order some follow-up tests and had us schedule an appointment, we were so put off by him that we will be seeking a new Endocrinologist. By the time we left, my mother was very upset. We have seen a lot of doctors--especially recently--and I have to say this was, by far, the worst experience. He may be book smart, but he was dry and unfriendly--certainly not the type of doctor that gains the trust of his patients. Think twice and do a little more research before seeing this doctor. Maybe he needs to go back to the research end of things and leave the actual interaction with patients to others. There are good doctors out there who care about their patients. Dr. Fisher just doesn't seem to be one of them.
