Dr. Simon Amine Gebara, MD

Dr. Gebara is a superstar! Very interested in the patient's health and well-being. Patiently takes extra time to review your history, analyze your ailment, and offers helpful suggestions and advice. A very special doctor. His staff are a pleasure to know. And the location is most convenient. Dr. Gebara is a member of the established HMC network of fine doctors and specialists in Houston and Sugar Land. I initially chose to go to Dr. Gebara after my previous physician was no longer in the insurance network, and I am so glad that I did.

I saw Dr Gebara around 2011-2012, l was diagnosed with Migraines by him. He gave me couple of medicines including narcotics because my headache was so severe, I was going to ER back to back that time. He gave me refills about 2 times of the narcotics (Vicodin) I felt better, but I didn't know the consequences to come. Then when I went to see him again he said if the vicodin is helping he will give me more refills, he gave a bottle of 30tabs with 6 refills. By the time I completed, it was too late, I was already addicted. Then he sent me to the Neurologist, who said" why he didn't send you sooner instead of giving you all that narcotics?" Then after he saw the situation was messed up, he became so rude, literally yelling at me. I stopped seeing him, I continued to see neurologist, who was so helpful to me. As I'm writing this its been over 8yrs, my life changed completely for the worst, I suffered so much until today, I stopped the narcotics years ago but somehow I had a series of… illnesses including severe depression. I will never forget him, and I will always blame him for his poor decision making. Be very careful, I'm sure everyone has a different experience, but that's my story.

I don't believe I've ever made an effort to post a review but with a sense of urgency, I had to do this to make people aware of this physician. I READ ALL THE REVIEWS ONLINE AND MADE A DECISION THAT THE REVIEWS WERE AT LEAST SOMEWHAT ACCURATE AND DECIDED TO MAKE AN APPOINTMENT TO SEE DR GEBARA. BUT WOW.... MY EXPERIENCE WITH THIS DR WAS NOT GOOD. BELIEVE ME I TRIED TO GIVE HIM THE BENEFIT OF THE DOUBT AFTER THE FIRST VISIT BUT I LEFT THE APPT ASKING ALOT OF QUESTIONS. FIRST OF ALL, I HAD TO ASK ALL THE QUESTIONS ABOUT POSSIBLE ISSUES OR DIAGNOSIS. HE DID NOTHING OR SAID HARDLY ANYTHING ABOUT HIS OPINION OR DIAGNOSIS OF THE ISSUE. SECONDLY, AFTER A RECOMMENDED CT SCAN, HIS OFFICE STAFF STATED THAT HE WOULD CALL ABOUT THE RESULTS. AFTER CALLING THE OFFICE TWICE ABOUT THE RESULTS, HE FINALLY CAME ON THE LINE WITHOUT ME REALIZING THE STAFF WAS ABOUT TO GIVE HIM THE PHONE. BUT HERE'S WHAT INCLINED ME TO WRITE THIS REVIEW... AMAZINGLY, WHEN HE GOT ON THE LINE, HE JUST SAID,… "HELLO" IN A VERY CURT AND BOTHERED MANNER...NEVER GREETED ME OR ACKNOWLEDGED ME AS A PATIENT. IT APPEARED HE HAD NO IDEA WHO HE WAS TALKING TO NOR HAD READ MY CT RESULTS!! HE ASKED ME TO WAIT A FEW MINUTES WHILE HE QUICKLY LOOKED OVER THE REPORT AND APPEARED BOTHERED I HAD CALLED OR HAD THE AUDACITY TO ASK QUESTIONS. THE STRAW THAT BROKE THE CAMEL'S BACK IS THAT HE APPEARED UNPREPARED AND SOUNDED REALLY BOTHERED BY MY QUESTIONS REGARDING MY RESULTS AND RUDELY CUT ME OFF TO SAY HE HAD TO GO SEE PATIENTS AND HUNG UP!...MIND YOU, I WAS ON THE PHONE FOR ABOUT 2-3 MINUTES!! WOW...SO MUCH FOR BEING A PATIENT! IT WAS JUST TERRIBLE PROFESSIONALISM AS A PHYSICIAN WITH NO COMPASSION OR CARE FOR HIS PATIENTS. I WOULD THINK TWICE ABOUT HIS ABILITY AND HIS CARE FOR PATIENTS. ALL THE POSITIVE REVIEWS NOW APPEAR BOGUS TO ME. I'VE NEVER EXPERIENCED A DOCTOR THAT WAS SO DISPASSIONATE ABOUT HIS JOB OR HIS PATIENTS. I'M SURE THERE ARE OTHER MUCH BETTER CHOICES AS YOUR INTERNIST OR PRIMARY CARE DOCTOR. I HOPE THIS REVIEW HELPS OTHERS MAKE WISER CHOICES. THANK YOU.

It is true that you don't wait long or that you don't feel rushed. But I am surprised by all other favorable reviews. He never says anything, if you want any info, you have to ask for it. I always need to ask questions like: why did you ask me that, what do you suspect? Is there a simple way to test for that? etc..etc... I wouldn't want to visit Dr. Gebara for anything other than regular physicals.

Dr. Gebara has always been most respectful, kind, informative and proactive to my conditions. On one occasion he saved my life by doing immediate blood work right in his office and booking me into intensive care at a hospital within 15 minutes of my arrival to his office. He then diligently managed my hospital stay for the next 12 days. And he has a wonderfully natural sense of humor :)

Maybe he'd be a better doctor if he didn't work in this joke of a clinic. He misdiagnosed me and didn't do necessary bloodwork. If you have a real problem, do yourself a favor: spend a little more money and find a doctor in the Medical Center, where they actually take time with you.

Dr. Gebara accurately diagnosed a problem that had atypical symptoms. I am grateful. It saved a lot of pain in the future.

No waiting with Dr. Gebara! He is fast, efficient, and totally knowledgeable. He is the most thorough physician I have been to in 50 years. Meticulous and highly scientific. Dr. Gebara talks straight! And his nursing staff are the friendliest, most helpful you'll ever meet.
