Dr. Simonette Carol Jones, MD

Somehow, Dr. Jones seems to have forgotten that she took an oath to do no harm when she received her medical degree. I had only seen her twice and she did not inspire much confidence in her ability to take care of my medical needs. But I had to go to the Emergency Department for a heart problem and was admitted to the hospital, so I had to list her as my cardiologist. In the four days that I was in the hospital, I never saw Dr. Jones once. I received most of my medical information and diagnoses from the Hospital Physician who stopped in every day to keep me informed. He discharged me at 1:30 PM but said I had to wait for Dr. Jones to come and fill out the discharge papers and write the prescription for my heart medicine. So I waited, and waited, and waited. I was not receiving any medical treatment at all on the day of discharge so I should have been out of there before 2:00 PM. Finally at 6:00 PM, I asked the charge nurse to page either Dr. Jones or her supervisor because by… that time, my nerves were shot. She finally showed up at 6:15 and came into my room to ask how I was feeling. Seriously? After waiting almost 5 hours for her to show up? I expressed my dissatisfaction with her and told her I no longer wanted her as my cardiologist. With that said, her feathers got ruffled and she went back to the nurses' station and refused to write the prescription on my discharge papers. How immature! When the charge nurse asked her about it, Dr. Jones replied that "IF I needed any drugs, she would call it in to the pharmacy." The "drugs" were needed to keep my heart functioning. When I stopped at the pharmacy to get my prescription, they did not have it. I had to return the next morning to get the medicine I needed. I have never experienced this kind of behavior from a physician who places her ego above the needs of her patient. God help us all!

Terrible....bedside manner. VERY RUDE TO PATIENTS, FAMILY MEMBERS AND THE STAFF AT MERCY HOSPITAL. THINK TWICE ABOUT GOING TO THIS DOCTOR FOR CARE. THERE ARE A LOT OF OTHER I'mDOCTORS TO CHOOSE FROM.

My husband was released from Mercy Medical Center today after having a stent and defibrillator/pacemaker inserted. He went to Dr. Jones on Thursday (today is Tuesday) and during the visit I stressed to her that my husband was having heart rates of up to 169 with episodes of faintness. I told her how many times this had happened in the last 2 weeks. She was not concerned and told him to eat more salt and come back in a year. (I had triple by pass over a year ago and she told me the same thing). My husband doesn't communicate well so I had to insist she run some tests on him to see what was going on. She said ok we will get an EKG and schedule a stress test. She left, then popped her head back in the door and said no EKG, they would just call me after they called insurance and set up an appointment for a stress test in a few days. That afternoon her office called to tell me to discontinue his TRICORE. He has not been on that medication since 2016. I never heard back that day. The next… day my husband was much worse so I took him to the ER. At intake, I tried to tell the girl he was having high heart rates and was feeling really bad. She said have a seat!! FInally took him in, heart rate of 164 and he was in V-tac....very serious life threatening event. Long story short, had a stent put in that night and a pacemaker/defibrillator put in 2 days later. Now for me. I had been having problems for several months and made a couple visits to Dr. Jones just to be told to eat more salt (crazy huh?) Finally I convinced her there was an issue and I was admitted and had a triple bypass the next day. After release I had many problems with high and low heart rates and she would tell me it would just take time to adjust to the meds. Finally I took a video of the side of my neck and chest thumping visibly and she changed my meds....this was over a period of a few months. Then at my 6 month follow up when I said I just had a lot of weakness she said to eat all the salt I wanted. I know this sounds bizarre but it is true and as I said, after the events of the last few days, we are done with Dr. Jones. Her med list for my husband was off the wall with meds he has been off of for a few years and I give them that info every time we go. She does't listen, she is not proactive in patient care and she flits in and out in minutes. Although she has good credentials, her patient care is not good, even life threatening. I hate writing this but I don't want others to experience this type of care. There are excellent cardiologists at Mercy Medical Center but she is not one and I truly am sorry to have to write this.
