Dr. Sissi N Selinger, DO

Dr. Selinger is a horrible doctor. She does not review patient notes or files before walking in to the exam room. Some people excuse her behavior by saying she is "straight forward" and "matter of fact." These are just excuses for her being a jerk. You can be straight forward & also have tact. She rushes through exams, doesn't listen, doesn't like questions & over books appts. Wait time for me is always over an hour. I've been seeing her for four years. She never remembers anything about me. After my third biopsy with her, I get a call from her staff who says, "The Dr. wants to go over the results with you in person." Already alarmed I say ok, when? "Can you be here at 11:40am today (in 40 minutes). "I'm already at another appt & I'm in the exam room waiting. Can I be seen a little later? 12 or 1pm?" If she wants me there right away & won't tell me over the phone, I think this is bad. She says, "No, the Dr. is going to be leaving for the day & won't be here. Can you be here at… 9:20am tomorrow?" I need 3 days notice before requesting PTO from work but I say ok because I need to make this work. The dr. won't tell me over the phone & wants me there now. It must be bad. My primary dr. comes in. A bit shaken I tell him about the call. After I tell him he says, "You should go now." He tells me that he will stay late, that I can come back at the end of the day today. He sits there with me, while I call back Dr. Selinger's office to confirm. I thank my Primary Care Dr. profusely as I speed out the door. HE IS A GREAT DOCTOR. Actually cares about his patients. I show up & 3 other patients are seen before me. I could have finished my appt with him & been there by the time they called me back. Why did they make me rush over there just to wait an hour? Also, I have NEVER had a doctor charge me & my insurance to go over test results. Why are they billing my insurance to give me test results? I finally get called back, I'm talking to Shai(sp?) & it comes up that I left in the middle of another dr appt & she asks, "Why? This isn't an emergency?" Then why did I need to be here in 40 minutes? Sissi finally comes in, proceeds to give me the results that could have been given to me over the phone & I ask why the rush. Sissi IMMEDIATELY shuts me down & jumps down my throat. Tells me that she was standing right next to Tiffany when she made the call & she absolutely did not make it sound like an emergency. There is no way I can make any assumptions about what the dr. was going to talk to me about. When you're getting a biopsy for cancer & they call to tell you to be in the office in 40 minutes, can't give you the results over the phone, that sounds urgent. It is a logical assumption. Tell me, EXACTLY, how that phone call would have been worded differently if it HAD been an emergency? I've never had a dr. get defensive & yell at me so unprofessionally. In that situation, a normal person would say, "I'm sorry. I know how that must have seemed but I had an opening in the schedule today that was convenient for me so called you in. Maybe next time I can leave notes so she can let you know that it's not urgent even though I'm asking you to leave work in the middle of the day & rush over here just to wait an hour to see me to get test results I could have given you over the phone. I had time in the schedule & wanted to rush you over here for an excuse to get another couple hundred $ for the day from your insurance. Look at all the money I got to bill today & still be home by 1:00pm." The kicker is, she called me in to give me the results & she had not actually gotten all the results yet. This was on a Mon. Fri. morning I got a call from Tiffany. Now they have all the results in & I am being referred to an oncologist. Tiffany of course, is not a dr. so can't answer any questions for me over the phone. Sissi is not available because she has left for vacation. Why am I being told over the phone that I likely have cancer instead of being called in? Well Sissi can't charge my insurance twice for giving me test results for the same procedure.

Dr. Selinger is not in the right career field. I had a terrible experience with her. She is definitely not right for a first time mother a=or for anyone with questions about their symptoms.

I've had a TERRIBLE experience through my pregnancy with Dr. Selinger. I was bleeding through the first trimester and when I told her about it, she said I was fine and it was just my uterus expanding (all while rolling her eyes and without taking the time to do any physical check). The next week at my anatomy scan, I was told what I had a low placenta and would need to go on pelvic rest. When I talked to Dr. Selinger about this, she said that I had anxiety issues and needed to learn to manage them because "pregnancy symptoms will get worse and I have to learn to deal with it." I also have a numb right hand and was told again with an eye roll that I'm fine, without her telling me what is causing the issue (pregnancy carpal tunnel, I googled it). Please note that I have NEVER been anything but courteous to her, and I am not a confrontational person. I finally decided I needed to switch doctors, and tried to switch but was declined at this new doctor because of the late stage of pregnancy… I was in and my BMI (and Dr. Selinger's office did not send my complete package of records). Then without telling me, Dr. Selinger cancelled my appointment and I showed up and was told that she saw I had a request for records out so she assumed I didn't need her anymore. Then was told that if I wanted her to be my doctor again she'd have to review my records and decide if she wanted to take me back. Since then, I've been dealing with tricare and Camp Pendleton's hopsital and trying to get a doctor, and have not been seen by an OB doctor in over a month. Dr. Selinger's decision to drop me without confirming that I had a full transfer in care was extremely irresponsible and inappropriate. I urge anyone thinking of going to her to PLEASE reconsider, because this is your health and your baby's LIFE AT STAKE. GO SOMEWHERE ELSE if you can.

WORST DOCTOR EVER!!! DONOT SEE HER!!

I have been a patient of Dr. Selinger's for 13 years and would highly recommend her. Her and her staff are always helpful and I feel like more than just a "patient" when I go there. Dr. Selinger always listens to me and takes the time I need to answer questions or concerns I may have. I know sometimes she gets called away for an emergency but her and her staff are always as accommodating as possible and try to get you seen in a timely manner (way quicker than other OB/GYN offices). I look forward to my visits with her. I have been through so much with her from pregnancies to surgeries and feel like I always get the best service possible. I think this is the best OB/GYN and love Dr. Selinger.

Doesn't listen to her patients. Is all hyped up about all women doing cross fit while pregnant. Not individualized to the person at all. Not all women do extreme fitness training. I work 9 hrs a day on my feet and she has no perception of my work duties. I have severe sciatica where my legs and feet are numb and tingling - difficult to perform my work duties. She just doesn't listen.

I have been seeing Dr. Selinger for approximately 8 years and have had a wonderful experience with her. She has a wonderful bedside manner, takes he time to answer any and all questions that I or my husband have and explains things to us in plain english. After my first pregnancy and having to have an emergency c-section and having a traumatic delivery of our first son, Dr. Selinger was very compassionate and understanding when it came time for the delivery of our second child. She is very straight forward and says things as they are and I appreciate that in a doctor. I don't want things to be sugar coated so that I walk away confused and not really understanding what is going on. Thank you Dr. Selinger for all that you have contributed to the health and well-being of taking care of me.

Dr Selinger is a very kind and caring Physician that I am comfortable sharing my concerns with.

Dr Selinger is a wonderful doctor. I have had her as my obgyn for around 4 years. She is great at listening to and addressing your concerns. She is down to earth and always has a smile on her face. I have never felt like she was in a hurry to get out of the room or that she didn't have time for me. The times that I have brought different family members or my children with me to prenatal appointments she has always taken a little extra time to talk to them and made sure that they felt comfortable. I have gone through two pregnancies with her and couldn't imagine a better ob. The office staff is also awesome. I have rarely waited longer then 5-10 minutes to be called back and once in the room I never wait very long before being seen by Dr. Selinger...icing on the cake!

Awesome Doctor. When I came to see Dr. Selinger I had just found out I was pregnant. I was a precious patient of hers and did not know that my insurance changed. My insurance changed to something that Rancho ObGyn was not contracted with. Instead of sending me away and prolonging my care she saw me and answered all of my questions and concerns. She is amazing and went above and beyond to make sure that I never missed any care.
