Dr. Skandan Shanmugan, MD

I went in for a routine examination and he decided to surgically remove something without telling me earlier due to which I was in pain and unable to move for 2 weeks after and while I was still subconscious he told me something about what he did and what he thinks I need to follow up on and then disappeared. I didn't see him again in the recovery room. The follow up appointment was rather odd, barely any information provided. he breezed in and out. He's arrogant and I do NOT recommend him.

He should be ashamed of his bedside. He seemed insulted that I voiced concerns post-op (with complications) and he failed to follow-up with me as discussed. I regret having him as my surgeon and do not recommend him to anybody.

Arrogant. Won't listen, had other things that he wanted to do. Didn't look at my file before coming into see me.

This doctor had a bad attitude through my whole operation. I thought being at Penn he'd be good and worth it, but now having issues. He hard to get ahold of, and rude and arrogant when you do. Don't recommend him

I had the j pouch surgery done by Dr. Shanmugan, he gave me my life back. I can't thank him enough for pushing me to get the surgery. I was going to the bathroom 18-25 times a day with blood in each bowel movement and with no control, if I had to go I had to run to the nearest bathroom. Now I am 7 weeks out of my surgeries and feel great, I have full control and am only going 5-8 times.

Dr Shanmugan is thorough and explains everything without me having to question him.
