Dr. Sloan Avery Robinson, MD

I have been a patient for more years than I can count. Dr. Robinson has always gone above and beyond to make sure that any medical issue I had is treated quickly and properly. He even follows up on the weekend with a phone call to make sure that I am feeling better. I couldn't ask for a better doctor. He really is the best!

He didn’t take the time to diagnose me when I was a baby. I was extremely sick as a baby with pyloric stenosis. He told my mother, “you aren’t fit to be a mother. You obviously don’t have the time to devote to him”. 24 years later, I’m about to graduate with my MD and never be a doctor like him. How dare him.

Dr. Robinson has been our family physician for many, many years. He treats my 55 yr old disabled brother and I completely trust putting my brother's care in Dr. Robinson's hands. And I am very, very particular and protective when it comes to my brother's care! He will fill out any form needed, and will take as much time as needed to address any concerns, and at anytime - if not in the office, then through the patient portal. He is highly intelligent and very skilled in diagnosis and treatment, and he continually keeps current with what's going on in the medical field. My only guess at other's lower ratings may be his somewhat abrupt nature. He sincerely cares about all his patients, but may not have that overly sympathetic bedside manner that some people wish for. He's more focused on your medical issues and thinking of the best treatments. I would never want take my brother to any other doctor.

I came to Dr. Robinson as a new patient. I had been treated at a family health center several times for a UTI but after looking at my labs Dr. Robinson suspected it was more. He sent me for further testing. My Kidney Cancer was discovered in its early stage and my life was saved thanks to Dr. Robinson.

A caring compassionate family physician who doesn't rest until he finds a cure for what ails you. I am amazed by his bed side manner and attention to detail.

My regular doctor was on vacation, but I had an emergency. Dr. Robinson's bed side manner is horrible. He is arrogant and pretensious. Who cares if he went to Johns Hopkins! He discounts your concerns as nothing. If I find out I have something more serious then I will be reporting him. Go anywhere but not here!

I wish Dr. Robinson had felt my shooting leg pains were important enough to look into further. If he had, I might still have my thyroid. Unfortunately, he did not but my new doctor did.

Pros: Tells it like it is. If you want someone to make you feel warm and fuzzy then look elsewhere. If you prefer a to the point assessment of your health, Dr. Robinson is your man.Both my wife and I have seen Dr. Robinson for years. When my wife developed high blood pressure after childbirth, Dr. Robinson had us do the usual diet and exercise changes. When that didn't work he immediately referred us to a great cardiologist. He followed up often to make sure we were getting the care we needed.He follows up the more severe appointments with a phone call. Cons: Don't bother going in to see Dr. Robinson with a cold. His old school demeanor will have you headed home with nothing more than a slip of paper telling you to take Robitussin, Sudafed and Saline nasal spray. He has only treated me with perscriptions for a cold when it has moved on to a sinus infection. This is fine with me as I do not like to be overmedicated. As others have said, his manner may not be for everyone. … However, I get a feeling that he is from a different generation where those warm and fuzzy outward emotions were not valued. In this way he reminds me of my father and maybe that's why, ultimately, I like and would recommend Dr. Robinson.

Would not recommend this doctor to anyone

Cons:Bad bed side mannersNot answering or explaining the issuesNo idea if he was in a crappy mood but it did not feel good. Pros:His prescription was fine.
