Dr. Sloan Markham Taylor, MD

I recently had surgery and Dr. Taylor was Amazing!! He helped mr feel understood and safe. I didn't even feel the IV! I would pick him again!!

I have Insurance with a high deductible plan. But with the procedure I would meet my deductible. He called me personally the night before surgery demanding his payment in full. He threatened me that he would not allow the surgery until he was paid first. We literally had to wait in the procedure room until my credit card cleared for his full payment. Then since he had his money he never filled with my insurance. Leaving me to pay much more than my deductible. I wish I would have never given into his bullying before he billed my insurance.

Had a simple, no-complication surgical procedure from my local (in-network) OB at American Fork Hospital. Cost was $4k. Dr Sloan Taylor came in as the anesthesia doctor and charged $6k! That’s more than the surgeon! Now we learn he’s not in network. And his bills come from a Texas company that keeps threatening to send us to collections. His $6k bill is more than 10 times the established rate for our area. We should not allow “hawks” within our hospitals that extort us with bills 10 times higher than the area average.

While I appreciated his call prior to the procedure in preparation for anesthesia, I was held hostage prior to the surgery (he wouldn’t start) until I paid my bill in full ahead of time, even though I have insurance and wanted them to run it through the insurance first. While I understand that we all want to be paid for the work provided, this was a very poor patient care. Because of this stress, my pulse and heart rate were elevated and that’s how I went into surgery. Of course, I paid because the man was about to put me to sleep, so I wanted to assure he’d wake me up! The actual anesthesia part went well, so it’s a job well done, but business comes first for this doctor. Poor experience.
