Dr. Smita Shivprasad Nikam, MD

Smita Nikam, MD, is an internal medicine physician who provides comprehensive healthcare for adults, treating a wide range of chronic and acute conditions, ordering necessary labs and imaging and coordinating care with specialists. She also provides health screenings and general health counseling.Dr. Nikam earned her medical degree from Bharati Vidyapeeth Medical College at the University of Pune. After medical school, she completed residencies at Yashwantrao Chavan Memorial Hospital in Pune, India; Bronx Lebanon Hospital Center in Bronx, N.Y.; and Geisinger Medical Center.She started her medical career at Geisinger before leaving to practice in New York for a couple of years. Dr. Nikam chose to return to this area — a place where her children were born and where her husband is a practicing vascular surgeon. “I am proud and privileged to have had close bonds with thousands of patients in northeast PA, and I would love to take care of them once again,” she says.
