Dr. Smita Malhotra, MD

On active duty, I tore ligaments on my right ankle and had a complete reconstructive surgery. On a later active-duty deployment I developed Achilles tendinitis that took 2 years to treat. Later that developed into plantar fasciitis. I saw Dr. Malholtra for ALL of this over 7 years. I recently retired and contacted her office so I could obtain a letter stating my injuries were service related, so I could apply for VA benefits. She refused to write the letter, and wouldn't even speak to me, neither in person nor on the phone, even when I physically visited her office. The staff at St. Vincent's Primary Care in Ponte Vedra was rude and dismissive, to include the front desk clerk and the doctor's personal assistant. And get this: Dr. Malholtra is leaving this office to go to work for the VA! To sum, I have multiple foot and ankle injuries incurred while serving my country, she treated those injuries over a 7-year period, she refuses to document those injuries so I can make a claim for… benefits, she refused even to speak to me, and she's going to work for the Veteran's Administration. She'll fit right in at there, where veterans can expect to receive notoriously poor care.
