Dr. Smriti Nagale Wagle, DO

I echo the other poor reviews of this doctor. She was arrogant and condescending and showed little compassion for my condition. She made me feel that I didn't deserve to be in her office though I had a legitimate referral. She stated that she "wasn't an expert" in my condition yet told me that all these avenues of treatment I was seeking for it wouldn't work. So she's not an expert in my issues, but she's an expert in my doom? I didn't listen to her and got the treatments which have greatly helped me. This is not a caring doctor, nor a compassionate person. She's in a delicate position of vulnerable and suffering people needing her expertise and coming away worse from interacting with her, as evidenced by these reviews and my own experience. I would never recommend her.

Avoid this Doctor. I’m a 71-year-old who was once paid to teach human physiology to 400 level pre-meds at SIU-C. My office was in the same building that the first-year medical students used. (LS-1). Some of the most arrogant people I ever met went to class in that building. Dr. Smiriti Wagle DO, tops the list of physicians I will avoid and recommend the same to others. She may have helped some others judging by the 3 ½ star rating she has here. I give her zero and will never use her services. The other critical reviews in this thread are spot on. She is rude, presumptuous, and thoroughly dislikable despite what the few good reviews have to say. I taught several hundred pre-med students years ago. There is a tendency for the 5% of pre-meds that are accepted into med-school to develop an arrogant attitude. These folks, like Dr. Wagle being accepted into osteopath school, make the worst clinicians. My advice to these folks was to go into research. Lab equipment doesn’t care about a… researcher’s personality. Are you listening Smiriti?

I have been a patient of Dr. Wagle for over 2-1/2 years. She is very, very knowledgeable. She is a consummate professional with over 20 years of experience as a neurologist. She allows me to ask questions. I never feel rushed during an appointment. She is thorough which I appreciate. Although I am very familiar with medical terminology and clinical research I appreciate that Dr. Wagle explains information in a manner I can understand. She is very, very smart and keeps up with the latest clinical trials, technology and her areas of specialty. I appreciate her expertise. I also appreciate her 20 plus years of experience. Parking can be challenging at Lutheran General, which is the reason for a 4-star rating. However, I give Dr. Wagle 5-stars.

I ran out of the room. Strangest lady I have ever met. I do not understand how she is allowed to be a medical professional. She spent the whole appointment snapping at me, giving me attitude and making me feel like I was wasting her time.

A good doctor never makes the patient feel like their pain is not worth their time. I cried on the way home. She made me feel uneducated, worthless and like I had wasted her precious time.

Very unimpressive. She told stories about herself that had nothing to do with my condition. Poor eye contact. Lack of empathy. Very little help in follow up plans or appointments.

unmistakably rude in private consultation, not just a tired busy doctor type.. condescending--both in initial and follow-up to review test results. she had a detailed referral from my GP to investigate a specific diagnosis, but demanded from me to know why i was there. i referred to the referral and added my query to wonder if causes may be related to toxic exposures and accidents. she completely dismissed and said i obviously didn't understand how neorology works. that she didnt' want an overview, and a separate visit is required to investigate each thing and there wouldn't be time. interestingly, she'd change tone when in outer office to courteous. second visit, unprofessional in application of a test using electrodes to stimulate and measure nerve responses. her equipment wasn't working and, rather than removing electrodes to fix it, turned dials way up, shocking me terribly. she repeated it, insisting they didn't hurt, i had screamed and jumped...how does one fake that?… essentially calling me a liar. then she looked at her equipment and did admit it was turned too high...makes you wonder. third meeting to discuss results of tests and mri's in which she said they found nothing to cause stocking and glove. made no suggestions as to any further possibility regarding diagnosis. made it clear she was done and that my problem wasn't neurological. however, my regular GP could see obvious reasons on mri's. A review of her work should include a thorough patient canvass. other reviews indicate my experiences with dr. wagle are not unique. i learned at this site she is a doctor of osteopathy, not a neurologist. she may have specialized in it but the education is not the same as that of an MD.
