Dr. Somaya Mustafa Abboud, MD

I contacted her practice after finding her on a website for Suboxone treatment. Her receptionist called me and asked me all of my personal medical history, and many other private details. They scheduled me an appointment, and then told me that it wasn’t an appointment. And after all of this, Dr. Abboud calls me personally, tells me she isn’t accepting new patients, and said basically her advice is to continue using heroin and to just taper down. Which is something a doctor should probably never say. I wouldn’t trust her.

I was seeking Suboxone treatment after a battle with heroin addiction. A secretary called my phone and asked for my detailed medical history, took my insurance number down over the phone, and my SS, essentially processing me as a new patient. Dr. Abboud then called me herself and told me she couldn’t accept me as a new patient, after having access to my private information. While on the phone with me she told me she had no desire to help me and told me quite frankly that all i should do is continue using heroin, but try “tapering down” I don’t understand... so many questions. AVOID.

She was assigned to me through the emergency room at St. Barnabas, had no idea what I had, did not know how to treat it, was not reassuring, communicated very poorly, and was argumentative. Turns out she was completely wrong about what the problem was. I would never see her if I had had a choice. Someone else took over and got me out if the hospital. It was a nightmare.

Choosing a doctor is one of the most important decisions you can make. This is why I highly recommend Dr. Abboud. She is always very thorough and does not rush you out of her office. She's available to answer any of your questions and or concerns. Her staff is also always a pleasure to work with. She is by far one of the best doctors in her field.
