Dr. Somia Zia Mian, MD

My wife went to the Texas Gastro Consultants in a wheel chair following knee surgery due to acute constipation resulting from her pain medication.  On two separate occasions once while in the waiting room and again while waiting for the doctor in a consultation room I asked for the availability of a rest room for my wife.  In the waiting room I was told by the medical assistant that they didn't have a rest room and was directed to the buildings public facilities.  The second time I asked we were actually waiting in a consulting room and again the medical assistant said they didn't have a restroom.  I knew this was a lie and I challenged her on not having a restroom and she then admitted that there was a restroom but not for their patients use.  I challenged  her, in front of Doctor Mian, that you are making me take my wife in a wheel chair through two self closing doorways to a public restroom possibly intruding on other women when you have restroom facilities off this corridor, and… she said yes, the restroom here is for staff use only.  If this is the attitude of this clinic, what kind of care do you think you will get?  The end result of the treatment my wife received was zero with no change in condition.  The next day on Saturday we ended up in the emergency room of Willowbrook Methodist Hospital where the Doctor there properly diagnosed her condition and provided thorough and complete care.  Our appointment with Doctor Mian was a waste of time.  Ask yourself if you want to be treated by a Doctor who doesn't have enough respect for her patients to let them use here bathroom.
