Dr. Sona S Kamat, MD

After we each said Hello, rather than asking me why I was seeing her, she rudely told me--in no uncertain terms--that this would be the last time I saw her, that I'd be seeing one of her 3 NPs, and that if I didn't like "the way I run my business, go somewhere else." A solo practitioner, she has her own lab and imaging departments, which means NO ONE dares to question her judgement. She has a massive overhead to cover each month (big office space in hi rent area, lots of employees, rude front office, hi-tech everything, etc, etc). To me, that means she's running a business, NOT a medical practice. She herself was abrupt, cold, and high-handed. I took her advice, and found a DOCTOR, not a business. I'll never see her again, I guarantee.

Patients, be ware! You see the doctor at your initial appointment. I saw her at my second appointment too, but now I hear she isn't even doing that. After that you only ever see a nurse practitioner. I was hospitalized with Covid at Mercy South and my doctors treating me said they reached out to Dr. Kamat's office for a consultation and she never would call back. They recommended I get a different Rheumatologist for a second opinion. Dr. Kamat's office doesn't ALLOW second opinions- what!? if you have a second opinion you are booted out of the practice. This practice is BEAUTIFUL. Beware the shiny beads.Just because its beautiful, doesn't mean you will get good care. The turn over of staff should have been a clue. Obviously caring for their patients is not their priority, its all about the money. See as many patients as quickly as possible.

You never see Dr. Kamat. Staff turn over of staff is extremely high. Not knowledgeable of reactions to drugs they prescribe. Low wait time but every single time you go into the office you have to fill out extensive info on a ipad. Even if you go every 2 weeks to the office. They don't really care about you. Received Renflexis infusions. After the 4th treatment I broke out with blisters on my hands and feet. I showed them to the Physician Assistant who is the only person you get to see, you never see Dr. Kamat, told me that this couldn't be a reaction to Renflexis. Thus, I received another treatment. IT WAS A RECATION TO RENFLEXIS. Now, I may have life long Palmoplantar Pustulosis or Pompholyx eczema on my hands and feet.

Dr. has not seen me, instead a nurse practitioner attended and when asked for doctor said she is busy

I'm currently a patient of Dr. Kamat and I do think she's a great doctor. However I recently had a appointment scheduled with her that I made 4 months ago (to make sure I could see her). When I called to confirm my appointment I was told my appointment was not with her because they had a "New Patient" so they moved my appointment over without contacting me first. I was told 6 days ago that I would hear back from someone about a Friday appointment that they were going to talk to the doctor and call me right back, of course that did not happen. I have since called back and same thing no one calls back. So today when I call I was not only told Dr. Kamat will no longer be seeing patients on Friday's, I was told she was no longer going to be seeing existing patients her PA's would be the only ones seeing them. So when I asked why, I was told " Dr. Kamat is the owner of her practice so she can run it how she wants." I also asked for a referral to another doctor and all her front desk said… was "well you could go to the SLU clinic." I have insurance and I don't need a clinic, I need a doctor. I also asked if the doctor herself returns phone calls and was told "yes but it would be in the next 2 weeks." If this is really the case probably best not to tell people that, very unprofessional. I did call back after thinking about how rudely I was treated and explained to her front desk that I was not at all happy with how things have been handled (her attitude sure started to change) when I said I still wanted to hear from the doctor and that I would like to speak to a office manger. Her front is rude and change her story a few different times in one call. After talking to the "Business Manger" she was not aware of all these changes and said she would do some of her own investigating and get back to me. I just feel like you should be able to see the doctor at least once or twice a year after your first appointment.

She is one of the best I ever met.

Dr Sona Kamat is one of the best doctors I have ever had the privilege of being a patient. She cares about the whole person!

She really cares for her patients.
