Dr. Sonia Nair, MD

I have been working with her for some time now. Honestly, it’s frustrating. No clear answers on what’s going on with you medically. She sends empathetic enough, she’s provided me with non-medicinal interventions— which is something I initially said I want to prioritize until I feel it’s unmanageable. I tell her we’re at a point where it’s unmanageable and ask to discuss medicinal options (it’s been over four years now) and the conversation turned into questioning if I’ve been doing what she instructed. My condition is known to produce severe pain, and I’ve been managing for quite some time, but I felt dismissed every time I bring it up. Another concern is that I don’t feel she’s on my side— like questions regarding labs, looking for other options… anything that takes more than surface level interaction is glossed over or I’m being redirected to indirect/vague answers. I’m not sure that I’m describing this well but working with her is frustrating.

She appears to have an issue with you asking questions about your medical test, and concerns you have in terms of understanding medication being subscribed. She is impatient. I gather she think her doctor degree allows her to make the decisions on your medical treatments, and you don’t ask any questions.

I was referred to her by my primary care and this was honestly a horrible experience, she is completely unprofessional and frankly, out of line. I went there due to a positive ANA and spent the next 60 mins being lectured about things not having to do with my physical health! She lectured about social media use, asked me about plans for further education, why I’ve chosen my place of work, and more. I found the questions to be extremely inappropriate. When I asked when we’d be getting to the blood results she said she would get to it and the end, and since I have my masters I should understand that “the result was most likely a false positive.” I asked why would my doctor refer me then? And she insinuated doctors tend to be overly cautious. I wish I had checked these reviews BEFORE wasting my time, so I could ask to see a different doctor. As a rheumatologist aren’t they supposed to check your skin for signs? She didn’t even check once.

She was never with me when in the room. She was typing letters to other people. Always left the room 3 or 4 times to attend something else and left me sitting there waiting. I felt "put DOWN" by her each visit. This took place several visits. She always accused me of making excuses...It was NO WAY to talk to a patient sitting there in PAIN!

Horrible person! Confrontational about everything! Unpleasant! Rude! Did not listen and then tried to convince me what she said I said is true or what I had done is fact. She was always wrong and would get upset when you pointed it out.

she typed on her computer while she asked me questions. It was clear she was not even hearing my answers because she had all the information incorrect. She had no eye contact and seemed distracted. I finally had to get her attention to get her in the room! Her diagnosis was so wrong. I got another opinion after seeing her. Her opinion was ridiculous-what a waste of money and time seeing Dr. Nair at the Lexington Clinic. She is not a good Rheumatologist.

Ditto, ditto and ditto. Wish I had checked her reviews. Poor communicator. Dismissive and patronizing. I can not get a return call although she left me a voice mail to "call me with any questions". Hopeless.

I was extremely dissatisfied with the poor level of care received with Dr. Nair. I would not recommend her to anyone. If I could give zero stars, I certainly would.

Dr. Nair seems more concerned with entering information on the computer than in dealing with her patient. Also, twice she has been supposed to contact me with information and has failed to do so. When I called her office, I was told that she would call me "when she got to it"--and has yet to call. She seems to have no empathy and is more interested in the science of medicine than in the feelings of and treatment of her patients.
