Dr. Sonia Margarita Ruiz, MD

Went in for a regular check-up, made me take a blood test and I said I didn't want to take blood, still makes me do it anyway. She is very rude and not helpful at all, and very pushy. Just do not recommend their are better pediatricians who are much better than her.

This doctor scares you and bullies you into unnecessary tests and procedures. She is also anti- breastfeeding! Run away as fast as you can!

The pediatrician(Dr. Jensonne) my daughter had since her birth passed away, I had been assigned several pediatrician's in the Fishhawk and Brandon areas. My daughter in the last year suffered constantly from inner ear infections and nasal congestion, Dr. Sonia Ruiz was the ONLY one that would send her for an x-ray of the face, while the pediatrician she had in Fishhawk just kept giving her allergy meds and antibiotics. Dr. Ruiz found that my daughter had a impacted sinus infection that was backing up into her ears. Dr. Ruiz was the only one who didn't just guess at a solution of meds and or want to install tubes, she took the initiative to look at ALL possibilities of my daughter's reoccurring problem. Dr. Ruiz has been a real, no sugar fluff, give it to you straight doctor who actually knows what she is doing. She treats my daughter wonderfully and my daughter actually LIKES to go for her appointments. The front staff ladies are awesome towards the kids and the parents, very… personable. As a mother i prefer a well seasoned, educated, no nonsense doctor who executes her training with her vast years of experience over a fancy high end office and new pediatricians straight out of graduation. I am very proud and happy that Dr. Sonia Ruiz is our pediatrician and a great fit for our family. I highly recommend this doctor if your looking for a quality pediatrician.

Front desk staff is wonderful. Dr Ruiz, not so much. Appointment after appointment for the same problem. She is constantly pushing us to buy supplements and vitamins from a specific supplement company. Can't tell us why, and will not write us a prescription. Told us our 15 year old's vitamin A was "a little low" and was listing the foods that were high in vitamin A. When we told her we were growing most of those in our garden this year she directly told my daughter that she could die waiting on those vegetables to grow... She refuses to refer us to an ENT even though she has put our daughter through 3 courses of the same abx. Do not let Medicaid assign you here. If your child gets sick you will wish you had not!

I bring my child here. I will update with disgusting details as soon as we have our children's medical records transferred. She is known for giving parents a hard time when they finally decide to leave. Everything you read here is correct about her.

i took my daughter there for a well visit, we just moved here. very bad experience. we waited an hour, she yelled at a coworker .she was rude and abusive to my daughter. she scraped her ears and we left with antibiotic. we never took them! i left in tears!

Love the repore between us and the doctor. I think she is really awesome. That's why I have been talking them to her for 16yrs !!

I was referred to this office by my health insurance company. I was happy because the office is very close to where I live. I was greeted by the nicest girl she was amazing, really helped and made me feel welcomed I wish I remembered her name she has red hair. All of the girls at that office were extremely polite even offered my son some juice while we waited! When we got to the room I heard the doctor screaming at an employee and talking down to her, even as the employee tried explaining she had what she was looking for in her hands!! There was another family in front of that poor girl while she was being yelled at. Surprisingly she kept her cool and still managed to smile as we were leaving. The doctor was very abrupt when I asked her a question and talked to me as if I was an idiot. She was rude to the other girl that was giving me the prescriptions. I feel so sorry for them. I'm never going back.

Dr. Ruiz has been the pediatrician for our 3 kids all their lives and they love her. She's very experienced and really goes all out to take care of her patients. I credit her for saving my sons life and am eternally grateful. She is very prompt with answering after hours emergency calls. She WILL fight on your children's behalf with other professionals or the insurance company to ensure they get the treatment they need, and she will tell you like it is. She's tough when she needs to be, but she is also a deeply spiritual person.
