Dr. Sonia E Varlamos

Sonia E. Varlamos, D.D.S., M.D.S.
Dr. Varlamos has been practicing periodontics in the Larchmont area for over 10 years. She received two degrees from Columbia University; her Doctor of Dental Surgery degree (DDS) from Columbia University School of Dental and Oral Surgery and her Bachelor of Arts from Columbia College. She completed her specialty training in periodontics and earned a Master of Dental Science degree from the University of Connecticut School of Dental Medicine.
Dr. Varlamos is board certified in periodontics. She is also an active officer of numerous local dental societies and also a member of various national societies, such as the American Academy of Periodontology, Academy of Osseointegration and the American Dental Association. She is a member of Larchmont Chamber of Commerce and a Larchmont Rotarian.
Dr. Varlamos is also involved in lecturing in the fields of periodontics and implant dentistry to hospitals and dental societies. She particularly enjoys lecturing on …the periodontal-systemic connection. She focused primarily on the topic of cardiovascular disease and its association with periodontal disease in her residency program at UCONN. Her contributing research in the area is soon to be published in medical literature.
Dr. Varlamos is a native of New Rochelle and lives in Westchester County with her husband, Dr. Tasios Vakkas, who is an Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeon. She is fluent in Greek and also speaks Spanish. She is a first-degree black belt in the martial art of Tae-Kwon Do, and she loves to travel, cook, and practice yoga and Pilates.
