Dr. Sonja Boulware Kelleher, MD

Outstanding physician! She is attentive, knowledgeable, and realistic. I’m so glad I found her.

Dr. Kelleher was always very thorough with her knowledge and treatment. However, her patient was told an Rx was called in but it wasn't. After his medical POA questioned the staff on this and other issues from several weeks, (as in no return calls made from the nurse) Dr. Kelleher called the patient (while he was ill) and disrespected him about "staff abuse", which she claims was from his medical POA.He chose to part ways, but she sent a letter stating she decided to no longer serve him. I have never heard of a doctor calling a patient, knowing the condition he was in and showing no compassion, all over the sake of her staff being unprofessional. When an attempt was made to keep her appointment, she denied him, leaving him to find another PCP in an urgent situation. Luckily his GI nurse gave us a reference and he has a new PCP. Note: the patient is early stage 4 cirrohsis, Hep C cured, and severe spinal arthritis...on 8 medications. As far as her knowledge and expertise, Dr Kelleher… is good. But I would not recommend her due to her quick judgement of her patients, especially in this situation when the patient was not the guilty party. The worse part of it is her staff. The patient NEVER received any phone calls, no return calls and trying to get anyone to answer the phone is almost impossible. I tried for 8 hours one day to get an appointment scheduled, I was disconnected (or hung up on) several times, and on hold for 25-30 minutes...twice. I finally had to have someone at the main Erlanger office to schedule for me.
