Dr. Sonja Kirsten Stilp, MD

DR. Stilp worked with me to address spinal stenosis / arthritis post disc surgery. She was careful not to try to "fix" to much at one time, gave good explanations regarding her advice, and was pleasant to work with.

Staff & doctor were very rude!

I wish I could give her nothing, because she deserves zero stars! She quickly pigeonholed me as someone with chronic back pain, without even really looking/listening to my symptoms. She claimed I had spondylitis, but after seeing another doctor and getting a blood test I found out that was not true. She immediately offered me pain meds, which is not what I wanted, so I declined. She didn't take her time to explain what was wrong with me, at least in terms I would understand. She was quick to prescribe medication, even after I declined pain medication, she gave me something to help me sleep for when the pain was unbearable. She seemed to always be in a rush and didn't spend more than 5 minutes with me in the exam room, when I would wait about 20 for her. After her diagnosis she recommended epidurals, which did not help at all. I went in for one and did not know I was supposed to get 2 more, After a month or so I went back in and found out I would have to start the series of 3 over… again. The pain the epidurals caused me immediately after was not worth getting them again. She then recommended nerve injections and did not explain what that entails. I got scared and never returned to her. I wasted about a year going to her. Very bad treatment plan and does not listen to her patients. She basically came across as someone who doesn't know what what they are doing. Also, I asked her to call my father who is also a physician so maybe she could explain to him what was going on so I could get a better understanding from him. It took me about the first 3 months to get her to call him and when she finally did he had no clue what she was talking about. He described her as a "Bimbo." I should have never gone to her! Here I am a year later and still no diagnosis! Huge waste of time!

Dr. Stilp's new practice is great. I was able to get in quickly and ask her questions in an extended appointment. She also personally responded to me through email and her patient portal. I feel I'm well on the way to getting better with great answers toy questions. She's a real professional!

Love Dr. Sonja Stilp and her staff. She has been my orthopedic surgeon for 4 years and I am so pleased that she has her own private practice now. Found her after a skiing accident and I have say that she is a miracle worker. I have been pain free for almost four years and I love her new staff as well. You can tell they love working for her.

I went in for severe back pain. She didn't even look at my back or have me take my top off. She was cold, uninterested and acted like I was an inconvenience. If you want a good doctor, don't go see her.

Sonja Stilp is a competent doctor; that is not the problem. She is rude and condescending when she talks to patients. If there is any compassion or sincerity on her part, it's not shown. She is curt in her response to questions . Apparently her time is more important than meeting her patients' needs.

Her excellent diagnosis and recommendations got me quickly out of some very intense neck and back pain from sports injuries. So far, would give her top evaluation from this patient's perspective.

She told me I have a herniated disc and after a month and a failed cortizone shot she tells me I have not one but three. I wasted 3 months going to her. Very bad treatment plan and she basically came across as she doesn't know what she was doing after I went for my second opinion. I never should have gone to her in the first place.

For the last two years, I had had pain down the entire right side of my body. After having seen 6 different doctors and three physical therapists along with after having had 4 MRIs and countless xrays, I was finally told that I should try seeing Dr. Stilp. On my FIRST visit, she diagnosed my problem. I had an injection in my thigh on that first visit and noticed drastic relief within two days. I just got two more injections in my back yesterday and can already notice a difference. To me, Dr. Stilp is a miracle worker. In only ten minutes, she was able to diagnose something that numerous other doctors had looked right over. As for the other comments on here, I thought here bedside manner was great especially compared to some of the other doctors I'd seen recently for the same problem.
