Dr. Sonya Khan, MD

I have been a patient for many years. She is always kind, attentive, and knowledgeable. Certainly the best Endocrinologist I have ever seen.

Dr. Khan is a rare jewel in the medical field. She is kind, patient and an amazing listener.

I have been a patient of Dr. Khan's for about 5 years. She is very knowledgable and consciencious, and just a really sharp person. I am very pleased with her care and will be staying with her for the forseeable future.

I was impressed with Dr. Khan during my first visit, but had to have labs redone due to a mistake on the lab's part. Dr. Khan was very apologetic, and since it was the second time I'd had to have blood work done, she promised to call as soon as the results came in. I know they arrived in her office over a week ago, but despite my having called the office AND sent a fax requesting results, I have still not heard from her, nor have my results been posted by her office. The office's email does not appear to work either. I downloaded my lab results (from the independent lab), and I'm going to Baylor College of Medicine tomorrow.

I visited Dr. Khan because I wanted her to have me tested for an imbalance between the ratio of estrogen to progesterone . I had written my symptoms all down on a piece of paper because at the time I was having trouble speaking due to an accident. When she saw that I had my symptoms written down on paper, she rudely told me that I needed to tell her in my own words. As if I am some sort of idiot who just copies all the symptoms off the web! This was extremely unhelpful and insulting. I used my own words. I forgot some of the symptoms due to my memory problems from the accident, but i told her that I was breaking out in my chin area. She asked me if I meant I was growing a beard. I clearly corrected her and said no, I was just breaking out there. Well apparently she still heard that I was growing a beard, so when I had my test done, they didn't test me for the condition I wanted and tested me for PCOS instead. I knew I didn't have PCOS, so this was a huge waste of money. When i got the… phone call saying "Congrats, you don't have PCOS"... I was confused and then angry that they had not done what they should have. when I asked why they would PCOS test me instead of the test I asked for, I was told that she thought I had said beard. I told her twice that's not what I said! I wrote things down, she had the chance to read if she could not listen. She had 3 times to get it right, and she still got paid lots of money to waste mine that day. They were not at all apologetic for the mistake. I received no refund. People should not be paid that much or charge that much to make such stupid mistakes, at least if they do, they should be responsible, not me. Subway workers have to pay $5 if they cut a piece of bread wrong. A doctor can make a thousand dollar mistake and they get rewarded. I would never recommend this doctor to anyone.

I am really impressed with Dr. Kahn. I came to her because I had out of control blood sugar/weight issues. I was put on several medications (4). At one point, she suggested putting me on insulin.....something that I wanted to fight her over....I was adamant, that I didn't want insulin!! She said, "work with me, we are going to get this under control"....reluctantly, I agreed. I have worked really hard with my diet and have been steadily losing weight. Well, let me tell you, my blood sugars are under control, I have been taken off the insulin and one additional medication. She takes the time to explain my test results, and any suggestions she may have to keep things moving in the right direction. She is just amazing!

Dr. khan ordered a standard blood test and immediately ruled out Cushing Syndrome which I have not only subsequently had confirmed as a diagnosis by a highly recognized specialist (no wonder he had a two month wait to get in and she has a one day wait) , but have been told my case is one of the most severe he has ever seen. Dr Khan reluctantly agreed to 2 additional tests when I requested them. Twice I had to have the tests redone because she wrote the orders for the test so insufficiently that the lab techs (even the one in her own office) were scratching their heads with no idea what she was requesting. Twice I did a test involving sample collection and fasting and arrived at the lab the next day to have the TECH tell me there was a time frame in which my blood has to be taken and I had missed that window. Dr Khan and her staff had never told me that and it was not written in any paperwork she gave me. Her office phone sometimes rings 10-12 times before it is answered which made me… wonder if I was calling a real office or some backwoods voodoo clinic. When the lab called for clarification on one of the messed-up orders, they put whoever answered the phone on speaker while they tried to get the complete information and whoever was speaking for Dr khans office was rude, unprofessional and completely unhelpful. I actually only went to dr khan for an appointment once because after her standard basic blood test and her initial "Nope. You don't have anything endocrine related." TOTALLY INCORRECT analysis , all follow up was ME contacting HER to ask for further discussion. She said there was "no reason" for me to come in for any further appointments. This was actually great because I didn't have to waist time and pay more co-pays for more office visits. Meanwhile I essentially ordered my own diagnostic testing through her and was able to accrue these results while I waited out the long wait until a COMPETENT doctor was able to see me. Finally I am beginning a long and difficult journey in healing. I would not recommend going to Dr Khan for anything beyond the simplest "anyone who can order a blood test could diagnose this" issue. Had I accepted her medical "expertise" I would have sealed my own death sentence.

Her staff was great and really knew how to make me feel welcome. I did not wait long, and when I was seen, she took the time to explain my problem in a way that I could understand. I was pleased and will be a lifelong patient of Dr Khan!

She was great, she listened to me and took the time to explain everything. I really understood everything and appreciated her taking her time

Dr. Khan did not seem to care about my health at all. She just went by a basic blood test and refused to take into account related symptoms. Although she seems like a nice person, she was no help to me.
