Dr. Sorawit Ongsupankul

My wife was seen by Dr. Sorawit Ongsupankul at the Queen Emma Clinic for a very bad rash that had been erupting worse and worse since her last doctor's visit to the clinic. We believed that she actually had 2 types of rashes, and the steroid ointment that helped with one rash (reddish plaques) did not help with the other rash (red dots), and the rash was spreading all over her back, waist, chest, and scalp. The previous doctor had told us the plaques could be from stress at work. Dr. Ongsupankul at first wanted to take pictures of my wife's groin area with no nurse present. I said I would take the pictures and send to him. He didn't listen to the details of what we were telling him and just thought of the rashes as one rash, rather than two, even though they were clearly different. The doctor in charge, Nathaniel Enriquez, did not come in to see us. I believe Dr. Ongsupankul downplayed the severity of the rash when he spoke to his supervisor. He did not even examine closely the sores… on my wife's scalp, nor her back, even when I insisted there were 2 rashes, not one rash. Dr. Ongsupankul recommended my wife use the steroid cream that was prescribed for the plaques under her arms to be used all over her back and scalp, even after she mentioned her feet were swelling up from just using it under her armpits. Not only did he not prescribe more ointment so she would have enough to use all over, the steroid cream was NOT effective at all on the red dots. Her rash became noticeably worse. He would not even acknowlege in writing that the rash symptoms were the type activated from being overly stressed (my wife is dealing with a hostile work environment). He then went off on a tangent about her swollen legs, saying that was a sign of a bad heart and bad breathing. It is like he forgot why we were seeing him in the first place. He went on and on about her swollen leg when we had told him it was bc of the steriod cream (she has had similar reactions to steroids several times). We ended up with appointments for tests we felt were of much less importance than getting help with her spreading rash, of which he was very dismissive and did not address her problem at all. He recommended a dermatologist that did not accept her medical insurance. We ended up getting a hold of my wife's regular doctor at the clinic who was much more helpful as well as attentive to detail. She took my wife off that steroid cream, prescribed some medication to help with allergic reactions and cancelled the extraneous tests. I'm very upset at the additional scarring that the rash has done to my wife's back from using the wrong medicine that Dr. Ongsupankul advised us to use, as well as the pain and suffering my wife endured while we wasted time trying to set up an appointment with the dermatologist that did not accept her insurance. That really was a waste of our time, considering he just needed to listen more carefully and pay more attention. If he was uncomfortable examining a rash patient, maybe he is in the wrong line of work.
