The satisfaction of a positive outcome for a patient is very uplifting regardless of one's medical specialty. The healing process of a patient with a mental illness is understandably longer than in any other medical specialty. However, the patient-physician relationship that is gradually built over time, combined with an in-depth understanding of the patient as an individual rather than as an illness, can be a mutually rewarding experience as the healing occurs. Engaging in that multifaceted approach to healing, while giving the mentally ill the respect they deserve, can be a long lasting journey.

The first contact will be an interview process requiring self-disclosure, exploration, and responsible action. It has the overall purpose of promoting understanding and change. We will develop a comprehensive plan through medication, psychotherapy, or a combination thereof. My integrative view of treatment may involve …collaboration with other medical specialists involved in your care. Managing the inevitable combination of physical, mental and social problems can be challenging, but at the same time very rewarding. Subsequent office visits will focus on promoting recovery and maintaining stability.
