Dr. Soroush Mohandessi, MD

Well meaning nice guy but in my opinion a horrible therapist. If you need therapy I would seek out someone else.

Dr. Mohandessi took me in as a patient at a rough time in my life after many other mental health professionals told me they were not taking new patients. The work we've done has helped tremendously and my quality of life is significantly improved. Dr. Mohandessi has been great helping me with coping strategies and guidance on medication.

I reached out to Dr. Mohandessi when I moved here from out of state. I had been dealing with major depression for most of my life and I was experiencing night terrors, panic attacks, inability to even get out of bed or do basic self-care tasks. Dr. Mohandessi has been patient, understanding, and compassionate during my appointments. I feel comfortable being honest knowing that he will listen without judgement and provide insight and various treatment options. Dr. Mohandessi diagnosed me with PTSD and Major Depressive Disorder. The treatment has been a work in progress as he adjusts the dosages and a balance is found, however, where I am now is beyond where I expected to be. Working with a trauma informed psychiatrist makes a world of difference when finding the right treatment, I appreciate the time and effort that Dr. Mohandessi puts into our sessions and I'm grateful to finally be able to enjoy life instead of just enduring it.

I came to see Dr. Mohandessi about a year ago. I was experiencing extreme ptsd from childhood trauma. Dr. Mohandessi was sent to me from god, because the way he has touched my life, has made it worth living. Before him I had anxiety attacks frequently and my quality of life was poor. He prescribed the right meds at the correct dose, and has proved to be one of the best decisions I’ve made in my life. If you want a psychiatrist who listens, does not judge, and truly is the master at his craft. Then Dr. Mohandessi is the psychiatrist for you. He truly is one in a million. Ty Dr. Mohandessi for taking me as a patient and taking such amazing care of me. You have made my life better in more ways than I can express.

I was in a destabilized, severe anxiety state, and I credit Dr. Mohandessi for completely turning things around in a matter of weeks. His treatment assessment was spot on, derived from taking my body's responses into consideration. Because I couldn't drive, he was willing to do phone appts and was very available. Thanks to Dr. Mohandessi's care, I was able to attend my son's wedding, something I could not have managed only a few weeks previously. Most of all, his compassion made me feel like I was not just "the 2 pm appointment." Professional, skilled, and human---a great combination. I could not give him a higher endorsement.

I hired Dr. Mohandessi as a psychiatric expert witness for a FTCA Medical Malpractice case. He read my files and spent approximately 3 hours conducting a forensic psychiatric evaluation on me before he wrote his expert report. During the interview he was very professional and had a calm and friendly voice which made everything less stressful for me. My case went to trial and Dr. Mohandessi had to testify and defend his report and positions on the stand. He came up against some very challenging questions from the defense but he handled them all with ease. I was very impressed with his skills and ability to answer difficult sounding questions under pressure. In the end we were victorious and Dr. Mohandessi played a big role in our win. I would recommend Dr. Mohandessi to others. I found his expert witness rates to be extremely fair. I ended up paying a lot less than I expected for his top notch services because he completed everything we needed in such a reasonable amount of time.… Thank you Dr. Mohandessi!

For the first time in my life I am not completely weighed down fighting depression and anxiety, and that is possible because of Dr. Mohandessi! He was quickly able to figure out a medication regimen that has me feeling "normal". It's like I was carrying around a giant weight on my shoulders for decades without realizing it UNTIL NOW. I first saw Dr. Mohandessi in 2011. As a sexual assault survivor who had spent many years in therapy, I became desperate to find somebody who was experienced both with PTSD as well as therapeutic medicines. I did an Internet search using those criteria and found Dr. Mohandessi. It was honestly strange to me to talk to Dr. M for the first time. He is so soft spoken and gentle and quiet, to give a person space to talk. Being so thoroughly listened to wasn’t something I was used to. And Dr. Mohandessi isn’t just an excellent listener, an expert in PTSD (and other disorders), or up-to-date on the most effective contemporary medications for mental health treatment; he is also a compassionate, down-to-earth, relatable human being who I believe is doing exactly what he should be doing in life: helping people. I left Oregon for about 5 years and returned in 2019. Dr. M wasn’t taking new patients, but I called him anyway and he agreed to fit me in, stating that he always makes time for… past patients. I feel so fortunate that was the case. Dr. M is flexible is his treatment options. He does not push me to take medication or to engage in a particular type of therapy. He allows me to guide him and he provides insight and guidance as needed or requested. I have always felt like this was a journey with a light at the end with Dr. M. In addition to the items above, Dr. M always remembers what we discuss, always makes time for me, particularly when I am struggling, is never late for appointments and even provided me a slew of receipts at the last minute when I requested them. If you are struggling with mental health, my wish for you is that you are able to visit with Dr. Mohandessi. Even if he were not taking new patients, I would trust any person he would recommend.

I waited far to long to seek out help regarding a series of mental issues. When I found Dr. Mohandessi I was in a dire situation. His thoughtfulness and skill allowed me to refocus my priorities and feel more at ease with the situation I found myself in. In those early years he made himself available for many sessions to help me get to a better mental state. He even recommended and worked with a fellow therapist to address some underlining "side" issues. Now going onto 10 years, I see Dr. Mohandessi about 5 or 6 times a year as basically a short check in session just to make sure I am still maintaining a much better mental state than where I was at before. His guidance and my willingness to work on my mental issues is probably why I am still here today.

Dr. Mohandessi was recommended to me by a previous client of his who is also a friend of mine. I had run out of ways to take care of my own mental health and felt like I was emotionally spiraling out of control when I first started seeing him. Dr. Mohandessi helped me recognize that "overwhelmed" isn't a normal or healthy state of mind to live in, and enabled me to more objectively view the many high-stress situations in my life so I could respond more thoughtfully. He guided me to practices that are still helping me cope with anxiety and depression today, and has been very thoughtful and informative about how medication management can help alleviate some symptoms. I am so grateful to have found him and to be working with him!
