Dr. Sreedevi Vayalapalli, MD

Was a patient here for some time. Dr V. is openly rude on the phone and in person. She acts hostile when you need more than the 5 minutes of time she gives you during appointments. Couldn't get a needed medication refilled because the pharmacy she sent it to was out of it and could not transfer it somewhere else. She refused to give me 5 minutes of her time to resolve the issue. She left me without medication for 3 days over the weekend and when Monday rolled around I was told she would give me the great honor of speaking to me on Tuesday... No concept that you can't miss certain medications without horrible consequences. Absolutely unacceptable. I immediately found a new psychiatrist and left. The front staff have two normal workers. A man and a woman. The man is actually fairly nice and pleasant to speak to. The woman is a nightmare and acts like you slapped her in the face just because you called. If you get her i'd just leave or hang up and try again. If you choose this place be… prepared to wait up to an hour and a half past your appointment time for a "15 minute" appointment you arrived to on time. If you're a minute late just forget about your plans for the rest of the afternoon. If you do something she doesn't like she'll tell you that she could "lose her license" and threaten you. I'm serious... It's a flat out lie she uses to guilt trip her patients. The office itself isn't nice at all. Clearly the bare minimum amount of money is spent just to keep this scam of a business open. Long story short this is a mill where they try to get as many people through as possible. You will never get the 15 minutes she claims during an appointment. It averages 3-5. Basically you pay her for the appointment she writes you a prescription. The end. Shes in it for the paycheck and that's it. She clearly has no interest in this field. You are not her patient. Your insurance and credit card are.

She won’t listen to your problems. She don’t care if you stay clean she keeps you in the room for maybe 5 minutes and charges your insurance for 45 minutes I missed One appointment they charge $50 I missed the appointment because I was in the hospital and they don’t care!!!!

I have been going to Dr. Sreedevi Vayalapalli for over two years and have never been fond of her. She never really seemed to care about my depression and was too focused on my weight and not having a boyfriend. Today was the last straw. I don't understand how someone with a specialty in mood disorders can tell their patient diagnosed with Major Depression that they have to make a "conscious effort" to go to the gym in order to lose weight. Really?! That's it?! Alert the medical board and scientific researchers that the only thing people diagnosed with depression need to do to get things done, is to make a "conscious effort"! I am 31 years old, 5'2 and 173 lbs. I know I need to get in better shape! "You've been steadily gaining weight since you started coming here" umm hello, I'm a woman! You don't think any woman would NOT notice weight gain?! I have NEVER mentioned not being happy with my body. I have zero motivation or drive to do anything. I am lucky my meds are effective enough to… get me to work. "Oh you think your depression is the reason for your low motivation and energy?" Umm Yes! She suggests wellbutrin, which I tell her I have taken before. When I told her this, she didn't even ask how I responded to it before. She's always so busy clicking away on her computer instead of actually being concerned or attentive.

Most bizarre experience ever. I wasted a full day!!!

Psychiatry is the one profession that requires empathy and patience-- I don't know if Dr. V. got a special financial incentive to go into this field when she was selecting her specialty (like a special scholarship or something of the like), but she definitely does NOT belong interacting with vulnerable patients (let's face it-- if someone is in need of psychiatric care, they are at least a little vulnerable.. but more than likely they are greatly in need of empathy and care). She should be in research, pathology, or something that does not require such intimate patient interaction. She is cold, demeaning, and judgmental. Also, it was made clear to me by her that I don't have a reason to be depressed or in a bad marital situation because I am a "white American woman". God, I wish I would have recorded that comment, as well as some of the other times she spoke to me with zero respect, interrupted me, and made absolutely no effort at all to actually become familiar with my situation… or history. Put it this way-- I only had to pay a $25 insurance copay to go there. I left BY CHOICE and now pay $150 per month to go see someone who does not accept my insurance, and it is like night and day! I am greeted with a smile and by name by the person at the front desk (the guy at the front desk at Care Psychiatry is fine... but don't even get me started on the woman who answers the phone- she is without a doubt the RUDEST person I have EVER spoken to on the phone. She is supposed to be a representative of that office, and gets things started off in a HORRIBLE manner! The sad thing is, I complained about her on several occasions-- the office staff acknowledged to me that they had received numerous complaints about her... YET SHE STILL WORKS THERE! If Dr. V cared one shred about her patients, that receptionist (the woman who answers the phone-- NOT the person behind the front desk) would have been fired a LONG time ago! Anyway, at my new practice, I pay out of pocket $150 per month ($190 for the first intake appointment), and the doctor treats me with kindness, empathy and respect, as does his whole practice. Drug screens are done in the office and then are mailed out, so you are not inconvenienced by having to go to another location for your drug screen...OH- one last thing... when Dr. V tells you it is a requirement for Suboxone patients to go to therapy, IT IS NOT TRUE. I am not saying it isn't a good idea, but she told me that she could lose her license if her Suboxone patients didn't go to therapy at least once per month. THAT IS A LIE. I specifically asked my new Addictionologist, as well as a second licensed Addictionologist, and they BOTH said that there is NO SUCH requirement. Dr. V is uncaring, closed minded (in a field where a practitioner MUST be open minded and NON JUDGEMENTAL) and rude. I chose to pay $1800 per year to separate myself from this horrible practice.

This Dr. does not care about you as a person, and refuses to prescribe suboxone if you are taking anti-seizure medication, without even reviewing the patient's history. One of the most unpleasant doctors, catering to addiction, that I have ever met.

Turn back now!! Aviod at all cost. You will not get the help needed with this devil "doctor"!!

vayalapalli was recommended to my by my therapist. i should have done research and i have informed my therapist to not recommend her anymore. Literally could not care less about you or your problems. when i started seeing her around age 16-17, i was majorly depressed. every time i came to her office, she asked me my gpa, my sat and act scores, and whether i had applied to any schools yet. When i told her all my scores and figures, she was more or less telling me i was fine. That because i was doing well in school, she didnt see the problem. It didnt matter when i told her i didnt want to get out of bed every day and that i cried every night. She told me the cure for depression is to “Set goals and then do them.” Jesus why didn’t i think of that? how simple. she more or less wrote me a script for lexapro after 15 minutes of grilling me about school every appointment. Waiting room times are awful too. just save yourself the trouble and find someone who cares.

After having an unsuccessful visit where the physician clearly did not listen to my main reason for coming, and prescribed me medications that do absolutely nothing for my main problem, the experience got even worse when the bill arrived. I could not believe my eyes upon reading my bill. They charged every one of my visits as a level 5 office visit: 99205 (new patient level 5 office visit when I am NOT a new patient) followed by 99215, w/ add on codes of 60 min with the physician. I have never spent more than 15 min w/ the physician. Though I have spent 60 minutes in the waiting room for every single appointment....but last I checked my medical coding book, I do not recall seeing the waiting room time included into the billing appointment time..... To make matters worse, the 99205 code resulted in a $560 bill, & I never saw the physician that day. I had vitals taken, saw the office manager (not a medical provider) for paperwork, took a computer test, & went home. Then I receive a $560… bill representing 60 min w/ the physician! I do not understand how they can support charging the 99205 code for me completing paperwork with the office manager who does not have a medical degree. The most they should have charged me was a nurse visit. But, honestly not even that because no nurses work there. I have called & left multiple voicemails w/ no resolution. Level 5 office visits are for the most complex, lengthy, appointments, and my appointments were short, and about restarting the same medications I have taken for 4 years. I do not understand how that can possibly warrant a level 5 bill. STAY AWAY from this office. The physician does not listen to your problems, seems judgmental the entire time, and then to follow, you receive a huge bill because the office is over coding the appointments.
