Summary
Dr. Gilbert, a native of Huntsville, earned her undergraduate and medical degrees from the University of North Carolina in Chapel Hill. She completed her pediatric residency and chief residency at UNC Hospitals. She was awarded the McMillian Pediatric Intern Award in 1997 and the Denny Pediatric Resident Award and Resident of the Year Award at Wake Medical Center in 1999. She was an associate professor in Pediatrics at UNC until 2002. In 2001 she also started working in a private pediatric practice in Raleigh, NC. She moved to Birmingham and joined Mayfair Medical Group in 2004. Dr. Gilbert is board certified and a Fellow of the American Academy of Pediatrics and a member of the Jefferson County Medical Society. She is a member of the UAB Faculty Women's Club that helps provide scholarships to women attending UAB. She enjoys participating in overseas and local mission work and singing. She is married to Dr. Shawn "Skip" Gilbert; a pediatric orthopedist at Children's Hospital and has …two children.
