Dr. Stacia Ellen Sorrell, MD

Dr.Sorrell is rude and acts like you're wasting her time. We needed a referral due to insurance and she kept sending us to places outside the insurance network-- after having to beg for the referral in the first place. (We ended up in the ER so she gave in.) I ended up having to make my own phone calls to see who we could go to and then had to wait for her to write a new referral. It took 2 weeks- and I called or stopped by every day. Getting an appointment if you are sick is impossible- they tell you to just go to MedCheck. How does she still have a practice? Half the staff is rude, the other half apologizes and whispers that you should go somewhere else.

I switched to this doctor when I moved to the area. After a year with her, I am ready to leave. Her bedside manner is terrible. She seems annoyed to even be there. She types furiously at her computer, many times with her back to me. There is little actual eye contact. She takes a very bossy and rude tone with the medical assisting staff. I went to her for my annual checkup and explained that my insurance company has a program rewarding yearly improvements to my health, including cholesterol and glucose. She said she "doesn't do those tests unless there are symptoms." I mentioned my history of high cholesterol and the fact that two siblings were diabetic. Still, no test order. She didn't understand my point-I was participating in a wellness program with the insurance company-they wanted the info! I also mentioned "lumpy breasts" and prior surgeries for breast fiberadenomas and asked for my yearly mammogram referral. She would not provide the referral. She said, "if you are that worried… about it, you should see a breast specialist." I have been through breast surgery before and my former PCPs provide the test referral, then only if a problem is found is a referral to a breast specialist made. This doctor will not do any tests for you that fall under the umbrella of "preventative care." I am really not sure why she sees patients if not to help them learn more about their bodies. It's a nice office and close to home but I need to look elsewhere.

Dr. Sorrell has been asesome with me and my kids. I had gone to Med Check - who incorrectly diagnosed me with "cat-scratch-fever" and was able to get in to Dr. Sorrell after the weekend, and was given a correct diagnosis. I also had seen her after going to COmmunity Hospital ER - who released me. She saw me and made me go back to the hospital and was admitted (for a week) with ulcerative colitis. She has a great bedside manner, knows what she is talking about, and discusses it with you thoroughly. I did not change doctors even after moving further away. She is worth the drive.

Dr. Sorrell is great!

Dr Sorrell listens well and accurately tracks my visits by updating her computer database. She is not a warm/fuzzy doctor, but covers everything in a professional manner. She always answers any questions I ask and is quick to set up any specialist visits I may need. Her office staff has changed often, but Helen has been with her a long time. It is a busy office, so sometimes the staff is rushed. But the doctor takes time with her patients, so sometimes my appointment is pushed backI recommend her.

I have been a patient there for 5 years. I am very happy with the office. Everyone is curtious and helpful. I never fell rushed. I feel like she really listens to me and my daughter. If you ever need to be refered to a specialist her office is very timely and returns all calls in a very quick manner. I could not be happier,

Dr. Sorrell is professional but compassionate. She has always been very accurate in her diagnoses on my family and myself. She is very straight forward about what is needed to keep you healthy and does not tell you just what you want to hear. I trust her with the management of my health and would recommend her highly.
