Dr. Stacy Lynn Bizzell, MD

When I first came to Greenville 6 years ago I was referred to Dr. Bizell's office. I have a history of Breast cancer. I have been through chemotherapy and radiation at a young age. When I went to her office, I was in extreme pain in the back and stomach. So much, it was hard to get through my days at work, attend to daily needs, and sleep. I was crying in pain in her office. She told me in exact words, " You must me depressed about cancer and be afraid that you will get it again." Well about 3 surgeries later, and 2 misdiagnosis later, I ended up with a ulcer so big 3 YEARS later and working in pain....an ulcer so big that it blocked by stomach. I had to drive myself throwing up in a paper bag to the emergency room. And I mean did I say 2 misdiagnosis later and several trips to the emergency room, and finally got admitted to the hospital to take care of my stomach blockage. I would not recommend anyone who would take someone's pain and actual health issue and blame it on them being… afraid of having cancer again and not take care of the pain they are having for 3 years!!

I was introduced to Dr. Bizzell by my husband who was a patient. As a new spouse, I was able to become a patient - because her case load was full and she wasn't accepting new patients. She is extremely accommodating when an appointment is needed, and her staff is very efficient & returns phone calls promptly. It's a blessing to be one of her patients, and I can't say enough wonderful things about this doctor.

I understand and appreciate the desire for a physician to keep current on the needs and changing circumstances of their patients. Dr. Bizzell has given, what I would consider, quality care to me and my family. My issue is that her office denied a refill request on an antidepressant medication that could have serious risks if stopped abruptly. It's not Dr. Bizzell's fault that my timing was off with respect to getting the refill...my issue is that I did NOT receive a phone call letting me know that it was denied so that I could make alternate arrangements. I think Dr. Bizzell should have approved an ample supply of the medication that would have carried me over until such a time that an appointment could be made. The effects of not having the medication for four days in a row resulted in the loss of electronic appliances in my home. I'm just glad my children were in bed and my hubs was out of town...the damage could have been much more atrocious and I do think it is the… responsibility of the physician's office to contact the patient when refill denials could result in a story line that ends up on a cable channel titled "Snapped"!
