Dr. Stacy Ann Steen Vanoene, MD

Dr. Steen was my primary care physician for many years, but I left her after I saw her for acute abdominal pain. The pain started during the night and was so bad that I could not walk upright. She seemed rushed during my appointment, diagnosed me with 'acid reflux' and told me to go home and take Pepcid. As the day progressed, my abdominal pain became unbearable so I called her office back and was told that there was nothing more they could do so they referred me to the ER. I went straight to the ER where I was diagnosed with life-treating acute appendicitis and that my appendix was about to rupture. I was immediately rushed into surgery just in time, and luckily everything went well. Her office never followed up with me and I never heard from them again. Very disappointing!

I am never sick, have only gone to see Dr. Steen for routine visits. I rated her ok because I have always been happy with her, she is very nice. I had the flu last week and this is the first time I have had to contact her because I was sick. Talked to a nurse who said she would talk to the doctor and call me back. I waited all day and nothing, it took two days before the nurse called back. Very negative too, nothing they could do, just rest and drink liquids. Had I not had been so sick that I could hardly bring myself to get out of bed I would have called back but I could tell from the first conversation they weren't going to do anything. A little encouragement would have been helpful. I'm not happy and don't plan to continue seeing her, when you're sick you need a call back the same day!
