Dr. Stanley Lake Alexander, MD

Ended up in ER at Dayton Children's with my son who had split his ear at 9-10pm. Hospital called in "Dr. On call" - we waited for over an hour for him. Hospital staff nor Dr informed us he didnt accept ANY insurance! We found out 3 days later at my son's follow up appointment because there was a big sign at the front desk that said "we do not accept ANY insurance"! Got stuck with a $3,000 bill (my insurance paid a little over $2,000 as out of network but Dr refused to accept that as payment in full). I paid every month what I could afford but they still wouldn't work with us. Took me to court & garnished my wages. Took us about 5 years to pay off (will be paid off in about 3 months). Hospital staff should've informed us. My son's injury was not life threatening, I could've taken him to Cincinnati children's 30 minutes down the road & had a lot smaller out of pocket (or more worth it benefits wise cause could've met in network deductible) but bottom line, if I walk into a… Hospital ER after hours (I couldn't have called my insurance if I had wanted to to check if Dr was covered) that takes my insurance, I expect them to call in someone who also takes my insurance OR they should inform me so I can make a decision what I wanted to do! What a crook doing this to people on purpose! Its sabotage & he should be sued & put out of practice! Only gave 1 star because 0 isn't an option.

In 2011 my son injured his Left hand and Dayton Childrens contacted Dr. Alexander due he was the plastic surgeon "on call." Naturally I signed the paperwork to let Dr. Alexander treat him due to the severity of the injury. Not one time did the hospital/staff/Dr. Alexander inform us that Dr. Alexander did not accept insurance. He also told me and my husband that the surgery would take about 4 hours, it ended up taking 8 hours and a staff member only came out one time and updated us. Appalling!!! His billing practices started and we found out he does not accept insurance, my son's bill was outrageous and he charged interest each month on the remaining balance even after a payment plan was set up. His secretary was very rude and unreasonable. Will never recommend him and shame on Dayton Childrens Hospital for allowing him to care for children and not tell them upfront about Self pay practices. Only gave a one star so that I could post this review.

In 2008 my daughter was bit in the face by a dog. She was 3. The dog just about bit part of her lip off. Took her to children's hospital and was told a plastic surgeon was needed because they COULD NOT fix her mouth. He was great with my baby girl. Our insurance was going to pay but his office REFUSED payment. So the insurance company sent them a check, they cashed it. But still tried to sue me. Tried to make payment plans but his office refused! Wanted it all right then. I don't have 8,000 just laying around... He's good at his job, but doesn't really care about people. I gave one star because it wouldn't allow me to submit my review.

Find another physician. Refused to file proper coding with insurance company that would have paid at 100%.

The doctor did a great job with no complications or problems. Children's however is the problem with See no evil, Hear no evil, Speak no evil approach to financial issues. Step up and inform the patients as to the nature of the situation, to prevent the false negative reivews

I am very unhappy. After an emergency visit to Children's Hospital he was called in for my daughter. I had no idea that he was SELF-PAY ONLY, Meaning he takes absolutely NO insurance. No one told me this. Of course I signed the waiver that you do at any medical place stating what is not covered I would pay. I new that Children's took my insurance. Little did I know that the Dr. they called in would charge me every penny he could. Thousands of Dollars!!! I felt and still feel so violated.

My daughter fell and cut her ear. We took her to ER. This doc took 12 stiches on her ear (spent 45 minutes) and billed us 5000$. We have anthem insurance but he doesn't accept any insurance. I tried to talk with his office to get discount however they are not ready to work with us. We work with insurance and get it approved 3200$ however this doc is not satisfied. He wants full 5000$. If One hour job cost 5000$, then our healthcare system is broke.. what's the solution??
