I received my undergraduate degree in biology at Virginia Tech in 1975, and a Master of Public Health degree in Community Health Education from the University of Tennessee in 1976. I received my dental degree in 1981 from the Medical College of Virginia. I maintain membership in the Northern Virginia Dental Society and the American Dental Association, and have earned fellowship status in the Academy of General Dentistry. I have also received additional training and earned standards of proficiency for the Er:YAG, Nd:YAG and Diode lasers with the Academy of Laser Dentistry, and have pursued advanced training in computer aided design of crowns. I have practiced dentistry in Haymarket since 1982.
I live in Marshall with my wife, Maureen. I have four adult children and one grandchild. The eldest, Jeremy, is a web developer in Seattle. Sean works in the Patent Office and is married with a son. Gregory recently graduated from Virginia Commonwealth University with a …major in business and is busy developing his own spa/massage practice. Becky is a graduate of Virginia Tech with a major in nutrition and exercise science. She is presently working as a ski instructor at Vail Colorado and as an aquatics instructor. She competes in triathlons and is interested in developing women’s outdoor adventure programs.
My personal hobbies involve two main areas - art and the outdoors. My main artistic passions are sculpture and oil painting; I spend my free time creating works in welded metal or ceramics. The office has many of my oil paintings hanging on the walls. I also enjoy making wood furniture and cabinetry for my home and office. My outdoor interests include running, mountain biking, skiing, hiking, canoeing, rock climbing and swimming. I have completed two marathons. I also enjoy gardening and farming and am raising Christmas trees and blueberry bushes.
