Dr. Stanley F Penc, MD

I am extremely disappointed with the care my mother received from Dr. Stanley Penc. Despite a very strong family history of a rare genetic neurodegenerative disease, and despite my mother clearly exhibiting symptoms of this disease, Dr. Penc refused to order genetic testing. We later pursued genetic testing with a different provider, and my mother tested positive for the disease. If Dr. Penc had taken our concerns and the family history seriously, we could have had answers and appropriate planning a full year earlier. That lost time mattered. This felt dismissive and negligent, not patient-centered care. Genetic testing was clearly indicated, and the failure to act delayed diagnosis and caused unnecessary stress for our family. I would not recommend this provider based on our experience.

Dr. Penc, is always ready and willing to answer any questions and also help explain all my medications. Very easy to reach as well

She is the most absent minded and rude receptionist I have ever come across in my entire life the only reason she is still employed has to be she's a family member to the doctor and he doesn't have the balls to fire her

I really like Dr. Pence. He did a thorough evaluation and got to the point quickly and I really felt he was very knowledgeable. He spent time going over my options carefully making sure I understood, and ultimately he let me choose. He spent a good amount of time going over my case and I feel confident in his assessment. That being said, the staff that answers phones is abrasive at best and sometimes outright rude. It's clear that they are overworked and overwhelmed by the call volume. It was not unusual to be on hold for more than 15 minutes for the new patient line going through the obscure and frustrating Albany Med phone tree. They were much friendlier in person and the office is clean, and my wait was minimal which was surprising since the doctor spent so much time with me.

I haven't even gotten an appointment yet because of the rude front desk person. I am going based on my friends opinion of the Dr.

Dr. Pence is great. I left my appointment completely satisfied and happy to have found him. However, I just called his office to ask a question about a prescription and may have spoke to the rudest woman ever. She was downright NASTY for no reason! Like someone else said, how do they keep patients? I would suggest a serious overhaul of your front office staff.

I have to wonder, after reading some of the reviews, what type of patients/people Dr. Penc has seen. I have received wonderful care from Dr. Penc. He listened to my issues, advised me properly and has been so great I sent my dad to him as well. I have never waited more than 5 minutes in the waiting room. His staff is efficient and polite. They’re not your therapist or your mommy. They do their job efficiently. If you need more, maybe this isn’t the doctor for you.

Dr. Penc is amazing..I have been having headaches for more then 20 years and no-one could figure out why or where they were coming from. I have been to many different doctors over the years, from primary care physicians to sinus docs and have come up with nothing..They have all tried different things but nothing had worked..I went to Dr. Penc and he did an MRI and found out I have nerve damage...We are in the process of working on a solution but I have already started to feel better just with the little bit I have had done..Thank you Dr. Penc!!!!

Worst office staff ever. They don't return calls, cancel appointments without notifying you, and are generally not available. How do they keep patients? THE WORST!

Highly qualified, very friendly and professional. One visit and I trust him. need help controlling my severe cluster headaches that have disabled me periodically for 40 years.
