Dr. Stanley J Savinese, DO

My mother, Antoinette, was not terminal. She was discharged from the hospital with a plan for physical therapy at home. She did not want hospice, nor did she believe in it—her strong religious convictions and values stood firmly against it. She was a resilient Lithuanian woman of deep faith, with many more years ahead to live and enjoy. I later discovered that a hospice physician, Dr. Stanley J. Savinese, DO, of Penn Medicine Hospice, was part of the team and ultimately signed my mother’s death certificate. This was despite the fact that my mother had no terminal diagnosis. She was hard of hearing, but she was not confused. Instead of care aligned with her needs, Penn Medicine Hospice ordered powerful medications that were not clinically appropriate for her condition. I tried to have hospice services reversed and was unsuccessful, despite my efforts, including notifying law enforcement, and COSA. My mother never gave voluntary consent to hospice enrollment. I strongly believe my… mother was euthanized against her will. Euthanasia is illegal in Pennsylvania under 20 Pa. C.S. Section 5402. This is not only a violation of her rights, but a profound injustice. Families deserve truth. Patients deserve dignity. Victims of wrongful hospice placement deserve accountability and justice I will continue to advocate for justice for my mother, Antoinette, and for all victims of wrongful hospice practices. This advocacy is not only for her memory, but for the protection of every patient and family who deserves honesty, respect, and life-affirming care.

Dr. Savinese is so incredibly thorough, he tested me for Lyme's Disease when I never in my wildest dreams ever even thought that was a problem! He listened to my concerns and my husband's concerns, sat patiently, ran some blood work, and notified me a week later that I had Lyme's! After completing the treatment, I can honestly say I have never felt so good, and it's all because a doctor took the time to listen/assess! He's amazing!
