Dr. Stella Yi Chou, MD

Just love Dr Chou .. very trustworthy .. excellent in her field . I have had such a wonderful experience knowing her and by her excellent and kind staff . I do not want to have to go to any other optomologest. Like leaving a trusted friend ! Good friends are hard to find! " just found out that I can keep Dr Chou as my doctor"....what a blessing ! Thank you .....

DO NOT GO TO THIS WOMAN!!!!!, SHE PERFORMED A LASIK SURGERY ON ME IN 2008 THAT I NEVER SHOULD OF HAD. NOW I AM HAVING T PAY UPWARDS OF 20,000 DOLLARS TO KEEP FROM GOING BLIND.

Left the room a lot, talked on her cell phone, barked orders at other people, wanted to have me come back again for something easily taken care of then. (Which I suspect to get another co-pay) Did not do as complete of an exam that my prior doctor did but my insurance changed so I tried her. She also wanted to do something "creative" to get my insurance to pay for something it normal doesn't.

Dr. Chou has been my doctor for quite a few years. I have been very satisfied with her care, diagnosis, & professionalism. She diagnosed two major problems with my eyes and worked with my insurance company in getting approval for significant procedures necessary for my vision. My husband and I have both gotten glasses from her as well, and have been very satisfied, especially with a lens for continual computer work. I do and would recommend her to everyone.

I had a wonderful experience with Dr.Chou and her staff, I had no idea she did cosmedic treatments until I went in for a routine exam and she had plenty of helpful information on what she had to offer. My next visit to her office was to get a radio frequency facial treatment and it was an unexpected spa like atosphere and my results were amazing. I am deathly afraid of surgical procedures so it was refreshing to find out that I could get these kind of results and not to go under the knife. I recommend all my friends to go to her!

Through my experiences with Dr. Chou, she has always impressed me with how she treats me. Even when I called after hours, she is willing to answer my calls and even come in after hours for an emergency. She's very personable and makes the visit fun. But she also is very knowledgeable and I have always felt like I'm in good hands.

I was a repeat customer to stella, I had a small eye injury from work and it was handled fine. I went back a year later for a promised "discount" for myself and my son when we needed eyeglasses and routine exams. AFTER the exams, I found that the discount was NOT going to happen, and later found out that my son's insurance was not covered by their office even when they said it was. It was my fault for not double checking for the insurance coverage, but, THEY took our information and said we were covered. Clearly they don't know how to check that properly. Once we had our prescriptions, we went to LensCrafters for eyeglasses, and both mine and my sons glasses were incorrect, we could hardly see with our new glasses. My son also had an exam for contact lenses and we found that prescription was wrong after ordering contacts online (not returnable after opened). We returned for a recheck of the prescriptions and we were told that we had the wrong contact lens exam, we would have to pay… again for the right one. Really? I didn't request a specific exam, and they didn't offer one either. I complained, but still had to pay. Then we discussed the incorrect eyeglass prescriptions, they said that if we wanted another exam, we would have to pay for it. I had enough, and asked how I needed to pay for an incorrect exam that they provided? Their answer was, "that's just the way it works". We went back to LensCrafters and had exams done there, and they were perfect the first time. Our glasses were great and my sons contacts were perfect. I had to pay for those exams out of pocket, insurance only covers 1 exam per year. FINALLY, months later I find out that my insurance didn't pay the full bill due to stella submitting the insurance "coding" improperly and basically changed my "routine preventative eye exam" to a regular office visit, which my insurance covers 80/20. Preventative is covered 100%. My insurance said to have them re-submit. For nearly 2 months, stella's office has been telling me that they have re-submitted, but their OWN billing office and my insurance company both say that stella has not submitted anything. They clearly have no problem lying directly to my face the last 2 times I have been to her office. I am currently more than 4 months past due on my account because of them and the billing office is about to send me to collections over a mistake made by Stella herself, and they will only say, "this is how it works". Bottom line, I have had to pay out of pocket for my son's contact lens exam 3 times, his eyeglass exam twice and my own exam once at LensCrafters. And I still may have to pay part of the bill from my first exam with Stella if she still refuses to re-submit the bill. I will never return to Stella and would do anything in my power to prevent anyone else from going to her.

Years ago, she was the only eye physician that would see me on a Sunday afternoon for a serious eye infection (the hospital called three or four). I quickly found that not only does she provide great patient service, she actually explains what's going on in as much detail as you want. It's been years since I had an eye doctor in this area who would do that. The staff is equally good. My only complaint is that her billing service is somewhere between dismal and abominable, constantly mis-billing items and taking forever to get them right.
