Dr Alkins treats me like I have a life to live. I had other Drs dismiss me like my life was over. Can’t trust someone who thinks I’m dying, not living. Dr Alkins is thorough, he listens intently and patiently. He has pointed out other issues that weren’t his specialty. He asks about ALL issues, not just pulmonary. He follows up personally on issues

Spent very little time or effort treating me for insomnia. After three visits and yet another overnight sleep study, he had the nerve to say "Well I've done everything I can do". I reminded his he didn't really do anything and heard "We'll have to agree too disagree on that".

You should know before hand that Dr Alkins requires TWO sleep study OVER NIGHTS. The second night you wear a sleep mask that may or may not fit, as not much time is taken. You are awoken at 5:00 am to leave. The valet parking is out of doors, 2 blocks away, in winter it is dark and at 5:30 am there may not be an attendant to get your car. So, I as a woman alone had to walk alone in the dark, brush off a huge amount of snow to get my car, constantly looking around to make sure no one jumped me. You are SHOWN on the second night but not given a list of medical equipment places and told, in writing, that if you don't choose one right away, you'll be assigned one that may not be near where you live. When I asked for a copy, I was told that they didn't have a copy machine.

Initially diagnosed me with COPD. He had access to a CAT scan that indicated a mass in my bronchials. Never reported this information to me. Kept treating me for 6 months for COPD. After 6 months, I was diagnosed at Strong with Stage 3B lung cancer, Avoid this doctor at all costs.

Spent time with me on the first visit. Referred me to rehab. Started feeling like I was coming down with pneumonia again, he told me I was fine. Went back a couple months later, he said my lungs were clear, charged my ins co $244 just to tell me that. Four days later I was admitted for 14 days with pneumonia. I did not care for his nonchalance. Also the fact that he did not come to the hospital to take care of me. That showed me zero concern.

I found him dismissive of my problems. He did not take a full medical history. He recommended exercise I am incapable of doing even though he could see that I have a splint on my wrist and I was in a wheelchair.
