Dr. Stephanie S Gelman, MD

I was so impressed with Dr. Gelman. She truly cared about me, researched the meds she could give me, and cared that I felt so lousy. Her staff was also very caring and knew me when I came. They called me by name and cared how I felt - which was usually awful!! I would recommend Dr. Gelman to Anyone!! She was terrific.

Dr. Gelman walked into my hospital room just days after my husband of 49 years had passed away. My condition presented her with a dilemna. My first meeting with her assured me she was aggressive in figuring out the proper meds to help me beat MRSA. I was at AltaView for most of Jan. 2011. She saw me every few days to give me updates on tests and procedures. She answered my questions as to the meaning of results of blood tests. She was always gentle and reassuring. She followed my care for a year to make sure I was clear of MRSA. She definately was very thorough and I felt confident if any doctor could figure out my treatment, it would be her. She listened to my questions and concerns and was never rushed. The only thing that was not resolved was finding just where MRSA was coming from. After months she cleared me and just days later another strain of staff infection had invaded my body. body. Five days later I had part of my toe removed as there was infection in the bone. She… explained options, one of which was amputation of the end of my toe. Once again she was making sure I had to proper amount of meds. Was that toe the source of MRSA in 2011? Once again she followed through, but it was not necessary for as long as the first time when I had a PICC line in for 3 months and oral antibiotics for another three. When I made office calls for several months everyone on her staff was friendly and courteous. Would I recommend her? Absolutely! I feel she is quite remarkable!! Whoever is her patient is fortunate, indeed.

This doctor is without a doubt the worst Physician I have ever had the displeasure to deal with. She accused my wife of drug seeking behavior when she had a MRSA infection. She sent us to the ER and then had them run every drug screen known to man WITHOUT our knowledge or permission. All tests came out negative. She then proceeded to tell my wife this was all in her head and she was basically making up her problem. accused her of trying to get pain killers. She had just had knee surgery and could have gotten all she wanted from her orthopedist. Nobody in their right mind would see an infectious disease doctor to procure pain meds. Give me a break ! "BEWARE" her billing practices are horrible. When you check in you sign what are assumed to be the standard auth to treat financially responsible etc. However they have you sign a paper that lets them debit your account without forewarning and for any amount they decide you owe. READ THE FINE PRINT ON THIS SNEAKY DOCTOR. In my 48 years of… seeing physicians I have never been treated so poorly or billed so unethically. In my opinion, and if I had it to do over again I would see a veterinarian before seeing her again.When you write a review or challenge her pompous authority if she finds out who you are........watch out I have found a vindictiveness that is very rare in physicians "do no harm'...hmmm may want to re-read the oath.

In my opinion this doctor did NOT address the problem we came in for. Instead she sent us to The ER for a multitude of drug screenings without informing us of it. When a simple question posed to us would have answered her question.( all tests were negative BTW)One of the most poor bedside manors I have ever witnessed. I was also EXTREMELY disapointed in their deceptive billing practices. Be careful what you sign upon checkin. I didn't realize that I gave them authority to debit my checking account for anything the insurance didn't cover. I assumed like nearly every other doctor known to mankind we would be billed...but noooo we got a large debit just taken out of our account..MADENING. In my opinion this is an enethical and non caring doctor. Run away fast.
