Dr. Stephanie Tehnu Ho, MD

She is good at prescribing, however, I would warn against seeing her for long term med management as she doesn't seem to really care about people. Much more geared to the clinical side and not the human side of medicine. She seems she would be better off in some research area rather than dealing with patients as her people skills and empathy are very poor. She would often smirk during sessions and I didn't feel like I could truly open up to her. Poorest bedside manner I every came across in a physician. Condescending and elitist for sure. She was at NYU at the time I saw her and never send reminders for appointments, which is unusual for doctors now. She seemed to take satisfaction in your missing the appointment and was VERY self-righteous about it. Her front desk staff at NYU was beyond incompetent. If you are thinking about seeing her have her evaluate and prescribe, get you steady on your meds and then find a good NP.

I saw StephanieHo weekly over the course of a year for depression. I actually left each appointment feeling more depressed than when I arrived. She has absolutely no warmth to her. She's very stoic and guarded in her approach. All of our discussions were very matter-of-fact. She asked a lot of questions but gave no feedback. She spent a lot of time looking down at her paper as she took notes. In one session, there was a point that I was clearly distressed and she showed absolutely no empathy. I have no idea why she went into this profession. She claims to be a psychopharmacologist which is why I initially went to her. I wanted her to adjust my meds so I could start feeling normal again. She kept trying to tweak my meds but after close to a year with no improvement, I decided to break away from her. It was also very difficult to make appointments with her and she often ran late. The one occasion where I showed up late, the receptionist scolded me. Overall, and… experience I'd like to forget. I've never written a negative review about a doctor before. DrHo may be brilliant and smart, but she should not be dealing with patients . Stick her with the lab rats. She probably would do well with them.

She is a reproductive psychiatrist. When I first went to her she hadn't had children so her experience was limited to research only. She was not at all compassionate and acted judemental, not a good combination for treating struggling women. She also prescribed very questionable meds that have raised several eyebrows from other MD's I've spoken to. I don't recommend her because she is cold and cuts appointments short, which are very expensive.
