Dr. Stephanie Michelle Lay, MD

First off, If you're looking for a primary care/family doctor who you can rely and depend on for all of your medical needs for many years, I would not recommend Dr. Stephanie. All of the staff that work with her are amazing and very kind. However, in all the visits I've had with her, not a single one has been without her having an attitude, with her even starting arguments with me and other patients that I know. For some reason she is never in a good mood, and she will always rush you even if it means ignoring important information that you are trying to give her. When you see any primary care/Family physician, you expect to be treated with respect, patience and of course kindness. Since, these are your go-to doctors for any and all concerns related to your health. But after every visit with Dr. Lay, you will instead end up feeling disrespected, rushed, and just overall annoyed with your visit. Is she knowledgeable? In my opinion, she is. However, she treats patients very coldly… without any emotion, and expects you to already know everything about medicine so she doesn't have to explain anything herself(and she won't, at least not during my visits with her). If you still want to try her out, then at least go into your visit knowing what to expect. And don't allow her to bully or rush you (she will). Stick up for yourself and go to another doctor if she does not work out.

I've been seeing Dr. Lay for four years. When she is in the exam room she is present and compassionate. She always takes plenty of time to hear my concerns. As a former cancer patient the list is pretty long. She has reached out to me on a Friday evening to give me results and when she got my voicemail even tried me back a second time. Love Nurse Krista. She is kind and always greets me with a smile. Wait times are short and the admin staff is pleasant.

She the best doctor I have seen since moving to Florida 4 years ago

This is the second physical I had with Dr. Lay. I find her to be patient, thorough and helpful. She listened to my concerns regarding my insurance and only had me tested for what she thought was all I needed rather than the whole panel of tests often given with a physical. I also find her to be extremely knowledgeable. - Laura

I’m dealing with a hard to diagnosis illness of a painful face issue from a injection I got of a new drug. and Dr Lay has been very smart and great at helping me diagnosis it. I really like Dr Lay and I’m grateful I found her. She is a quick thinker and hard worker

Brought my husband here a few times. dr lay needs to be reported to the Florida medical board of BAD doctors. She is uncaring, rude, bossy, and no compassionate. All fails to listen to patients concerns and misdiagnosed

Both the nurse and Dr. Lay were cold and mildly condescending. After my initial, awkward appointment my blood test came back with a high white cell count. A nurse called to tell me; when I asked her what it meant she said she didn't know and that I should get another round of blood-work in a month. After the second round of blood-work I didn't even receive a call, just a message that my results had been uploaded to my portal. Thankfully my brother is a doctor so I was able to have my results interpreted by someone who cares b/c Dr. Lay obviously doesn't.

Belittled me for communicating that I thought I had more then a UTI. Treated with antibiotics. Said to call if symptoms worsened. When I did office said they could not fit me in. Told me to go to walk in clinic. The clinic said I needed further diagnostic. Went to new Doctor. Found 3 kidney stones. Exactly what I told Dr Lay I had. She dismissed me and said stones were impossible because I wasn't writhing in pain.

Thorough, explained everything, listened to my concerns.
