My first time with squamous skin cancer, and nothing was explained to me and the first appointment for the biopsy was shocking. Dr. Mackey came into the room, was very cold, and in and out and done in a flash. No time for questions or what to expect, nothing. Second appointment scheduled since biopsy came back positive. Was never explained the procedure or how painful it would be afterwards. I honestly did not even know why I was there or what to expect during this appointment. Again, Dr. Mackey was cold and in and out without talking to me at all or explaining anything about what she was doing, or why. I had to call my family doctor who explained everything to me that she did, and why. I never made another appointment with them. And 6 months later they charged me $60 for an appointment I supposedly missed? I had already started seeing another dermatologist by then, and never made an appointment or got a notice by mail or phone that I had an appointment with them? When I called… the receptionist said they had made the appointment at my last one. Umm, no, I didn't, and did not on purpose. Rotten way to treat those who hear the word "cancer" for the first time and rotten to the core billing and patient communications.

I am not sure what doctor all those people with negative comments went tu o see. This doctor and staff are very professional and caring about their patients. Perhaps those patients should go see a shrink. 5 stars for this doctor and staff.

Dr Mackey is competent to do her job but does not show compassion or any emotion in her care of patients

I have to agree with the other reviews I read here. I encountered harsh and unprofessional treatment by the staff, which I assume is supported by Dr. Mackey. The technology they use for appointment reminders and billing is not easy for someone who is used to keeping track with pencil and paper. They charged me a late fee when I became confused about my schedule and could not access their portal. I am switching dermatologists immediately.

We should have read all the reviews about this office before scheduling an appointment. We seem to be one of many who have encountered a lack of professional practices within a health service office that treats their clients so poorly. Although this is a matter of staff related complaint, I can only assume the DR supports this behavior or would not let these complaints effect her reviews online and ultimately her reputation. The office personel were extremely rude and disrespectful to both my wife and I and when we asked to speak to an office manager, they lied about having one, placed us on multiple holds. When I said I would come to the office if I had to in order to resolve the matter, I was told I was threatening them and that the police would be called. In all our years of working with medical professionals this has to be one of the most unprofessional places we have ever encountered. They threatened us charging us a no show when we were calling to deal with a misunderstanding of… the office closure due to a holiday. We were new patients and they treated us like we were solicitors calling them. I would steer clear of this dermatology office.

I really like Dr. Mackey.. skin cancer runs rampant on both sides of my family, so i am a little terrified every time i get a new mole or anything weird on my skin. She was great at helping to reduce my fears and gave me good information on what i should actually be concerned about, should those things ever happen to me.

Dr. Mackey is fantastic. Small office but never rushed. She is no nonsense and I like that in my doctor.
