Dr. Stephanie Smolen Michel, MD

Dr. Stephanie is so friendly from my first visit till now. I really love the way how she explain me everything and she listens to all my questions of mine and answer it patiently. I am very comfortable explaining her about all the concerns I have and I get solutions as well how to handle it.

Dr. Michel takes so much time and care in every discussion. She really listens to me.

I had a high risk pregnancy and was carrying twins. I called on a monday because I felt like I was getting a urinary track infection. They took me in next day. They did not do a sonogram, instead choked it up to me being overly worried. I knew something wasnt right. It turned out I was leaking amniotic fluid, and my water broke that friday. I was 21 weeks along. She told me that my daughters had no chance. Today I have a daughter who is a thriving 3.5 year old. If you are a high risk pregnancy, do not go to this doctor, or perhaps she learned a lesson from mine, but doubtful. Terrible review-Yes, and well deserved.

She told me that I was probably going to miscarry because my baby wasn't at the appropriate growth length that matched my last cycle, that it "probably stopped growing" and asked if I had started having cramps or pains yet. I went to another doctor and I am now 10 weeks with a healthy and (ALIVE) baby growing...despite Dr. Michel's prediction. She had me depressed for TWO WEEKS after leaving her office until I finally found another doctor to get a second opinion.

Dr. Michel was nice the first visit I had with her, but things quickly went downhill from there. It's not that she is excessively rude or unprofessional... she just lacks compassion and caring. She "listened" to my concerns and questions, but did not show any interest in giving me answers. She made me feel as though she dismissed my concerns as unwarranted rather than ever explaining things to me. I felt rushed during my appointments, which is not something you want with your OB (especially after waiting 20 minutes in a waiting room and another 35 in the exam room). I had found some good reviews on her when she was in a private practice, but now she is part of a medical group. Maybe this has changed the way she sees/treats patients. After my most recent exam, she would leave the room and tell me to meet her outside at the desk station. I found it awkward and uncomfortable to try and ask her questions with her nurse also sitting there listening.
