Dr. Stephanie Frances Newby, MD

Dr was rude and insulting. She must have a miserable home life. Time for her to find a new career!!

Do not allow for any type of consultation if you encounter her. She is controlling, aggressive, and unethical.

I am a patient who has actually received treatment from this physician. If you are trying to determine whether to trust the negative or positive reviews regarding Dr. Newby, I would suggest you look at the dates on which all of the recent “5 star reviews” were posted. :) Dr. Newby is not only an unsuccessful physican, she is also an unsuccessful fraud.

Dr Newby listened to me in a way that felt real and full of love. She is amazing!

Addiction medicine is a difficult field to navigate, due primarily to the insidiousness with which the disease of addiction afflicts the capacity for logical reasoning of the person affected. Moreover, the individual complexities of each person's mental and emotional makeup and the relationship dynamics that accompany them almost inevitably lead to conflict when their underlying substance abuse is threatened. Dr. Newby handles these challenges with aplomb. She is a true professional, and an invaluable resource to her patients. I can personally attest to the enormously positive impact she has had upon my life.

My experience with her as a mom of a drug addict seeking help is extremely poor she was aggressive and did not take my son’s request to have us his parents there during consult she said she is not allowing it. I have never in my life have gone through that. I absolutely would not recommend her

Dr Newby is a failed pediatric anesthesiologist and supposed recovering alcoholic who had to change directions after being let go for administering anesthetics to children while she was drunk. She has been operating as an “addiction specialist” for roughly as many years as she claims to have been sober. It’s deeply concerning that Atrium/CMC allows this type of unethical, troubling, manipulative con artist to “evaluate” and be in a position of power over an area she herself was unable to execute safe, unselfish, patient centric judgment in for over 20 previous years. I sincerely hope she does not cause any further patient harm or deaths but it seems unlikely, she is a reckless ticking time bomb as long as she remains at Atrium /CMC.

Dr. Newby treated a friend of mine with such compassion and care that I had to comment. An expert on Addiction as a brain disease, as well as chronic pain, Dr. Newby brings a depth of care that is rare these days. I highly recommend her.
