Dr. Stephanie Courson Pothoven, DO

Dr. Pothoven is thorough, takes her time, truly cares about her patients & their health. She has a warm & empathetic demeanor. I would recommend her to anyone in my family looking for a wonderful & highly competent doctor with her medical specialty.

Multiple visits. She did not listen. During the first appointment, she nonchalantly implied I had cancer. Her schedule was so busy they did not have any follow up appointments for a couple of weeks. Lousy bedside manner. A catheter was placed incorrectly during surgery. I called her multiple times post surgery to let her know I could not sit and that I was having a reaction to meds she prescribed ie I was having a tough time breathing and there were red welts on my arms. She said and I quote "if you feel it is getting too bad drive yourself to Urgent Care." Thankfully the Urgent Care team recognized I was having an allergic reaction and the catheter had been placed too low that was why I could not sit.

Have have kidney stones several times. Called her on way to ER. She came in and stones taken care of in surg.

I waited 2.5 months for an appointment, then I only see the nurse practitioner... doctor was MIA, exam felt incomplete at best. They say they're really busy so I guess patient satisfaction doesn't matter.

I had a no scalpel vasectomy appointment scheduled with a Dr. Stepanie Pothoven. When I first met Pothoven she spent 10 mintues trying to convince me and my Girlfriend that I'm too young and will regret my decision later. When in the surgery i felt this harsh tugging around my nuts. Hours after the vasectomy I started to get serve swelling of my gentails, around the bottom of my butt, and inner thigh. I had to to to the emergency later that day. I have had to miss college and extra days of work after the surgery. When I tryed to speak to her on the phone, she was to busy to speak on the phone about this. I was only able to speak to other nurses other than her. And got told she said that she could only fit me in her schedule in that same day as long as I went in for an exam. I asked for five mintues on the phone with Pothoven, and instead I get hung up on by one the nurses there.

Dr. Pothoven is a wonderful doctor and surgeon. She never makes me feel rushed during my appt and always answers any and all questions that I may have. Her nurse is great too!
