Dr. Skow, thank you for many years of help ...and it's true, when I talk to you it's like catching up with an old friend. You're the best

I can’t rate her because I will never be able to talk to her about.my adhd adult condition. But from the various reviews I’ve read she sounds compassionate and a caring Dr. The reason I will never experience her expertise is she doesn’t take my insurance coverage and probably is to busy to see a seriously diagnosed patient with serous problems that was in Vietnam . Can’t sleep through the night without experiencing night mares and cold sweats besides the adhd I feel terrible alone ignored and forgotten about even by family’s. I also have shapanols in my right shoulder had one knee replacement and the other knee is bone on bone have two bad hips that need replacing, a bad back and neck and two bad shoulders and mental problems.i don’t like the v.a. Their motivated by money and will disregard and make you or rather me feel uncomfortable. You serve your country come home homeless at times. I live in a government housing sponsored program now and have a small apartment with my best… friend my service dog named hapa. I’ve been seeing a physiatrist for 32 years consider him a good friend but after all those years we dis agree a lot about my treatments. But he’s a good man and I trust him with his professionalism , diagnosis and treatments. I also see another Dr for my knees hips back shoulders and my panic attacks and anxiety and my neck .And my nagging right shoulder still walking around with two pieces of metal shapanols in them They did surgery on my shoulder and left knee replacement but it still hurts bad they cut my nerve on my left knee while doing surgery. The Dr I’m seeing for my extreme pain all over ny body is one of kind he’s professionalism and expertise is the best pain management dr I’ve ever had and believe me I’ve seen a lot of drs who is afraid to precribe controlled meds my injuries are legitimate and documented. I’m glad I found this Dr who is courageous and took that oat after grad school to help his legitimate patients feel comfortable in their late stages of life. I’m a senior citizen 66 years old a lot of people would say that’s young yet, but if you have a lot issues like me I feel a 100 years old at Times because of my health The two Drs I’m seeing now and have been a patient in their care are tremendously bold compassionate and will treat you with respect and dignity. I apologize for taking so much of your time but from the reviews I’ve read about you I just had to compliment you for the fine and professionall work your doing. Keep up the good work and it sounds to me that you have vast knowledge compassion and truly care about your patients. The reviews I read are from your patients .They trust you with their health which goes along way saying or implying to me your a great doctor and on Kauai reputation is Vital for trusting your dr and though we never met I’ll definitely respect you and the hard and tedious work you do. Keep up the exceptional work you do especially for your patients who trust and depend on you for your compassion respect and expertise. Dr Skow is a very astute analyst, she is compassionate and thoughtful and the most patient listener you could want. She prescribed me the medications I needed and they were very suitable. I would recommend her wholeheartedly to anyone without hesitation. She is that good!

Dr. Stephanie Skow accurately and skillfully diagnosed my condition of chronic combat related PTSD and assigned a methodolgy of treatment that turned my life around after I returned from Iraq in 2009. With her excellent guidance, behavioural therapy techniques and in-depth counseling I was able to confront and cope with the darkness that is PTSD. Dr. Skow is a well-respected and knowledgeable professional in her chosen field of Psychiatry not only throughout the Hawaiin Islands, but also on the mainland, having studied and practiced in the states of both New York and Nevada. She is a consumate professional is every aspect and I would readily recommend her services to any and all.

I could not have survived the death of my husband of 43 years or the onset of so many symptoms of my bi polar disorder while adjusting to life with my son after 43 years of married life. Probate is one thing, lawyers & loosing a house in foreclosure awful--without Dr Skow I just plain would not be functioning well in my world of 2014. When I've needed meds she has carefully adjusted to fit. I admire her caring and candor-but most of all her sense of what's right along with a wry wit.

Seeing Dr. Skow is like catching up with a friend. She is eager to hear about my life and relationships; my exciting news and my challenges, and my sorrows and joy. I feel like she is happy to see me and I leave feeling supported, emotionally and medically. She knows her meds and is tech savvy enough to quickly research the entire body of psychiatric knowledge. After being a patient of Dr. Skow for some time I left the island for two years. Dr. Skow and her office remained supportive the entire time and accepted me back as a patient when I returned without question. As a side note, Dr. Skow's office is beautiful and comfortable. If you have to be in the doctor's office, it's about as good as it gets.

I think Dr. Skow is a good doctor.. Not the most "warm, emotionally based" person to talk to. She isn't the best listener. I have only been seeing her for a year, and I guess she wants to disregard all of my past Doctor/Therapists notes on me.. which is odd considering I have Bi-polar disorder.. I think she could really help more, by actually listening and understanding then making sure she's not going to get in trouble with writing me a prescription for a different date.. Also.. I'm not sure how long she has been prescribing prescription meds.. but she doesn't really seem to have a grasp of knowledge on a lot of medications I am on.. Which is kind of an uneasy feeling. I think she could really be one of the best Psychs. I have ever seen if she would actually take the time to listen/ get to know me. Hopefully when time goes on things will change. Kauai is a small island with not a lot of doctors to choose from.. I'm writing this review to not only help you decide if you want to be… her patient but, hopefully help her see how she can better herself..
