Dr. Stephanos L Rizos, MD

Moved to Indiana at 32 weeks pregnant. This doctor accepted me as a patient. Saw him twice, office staff pushed out my appointments several times, and since 35 weeks, I have not been seen. I am now 37 weeks. My baby is breech and he did not schedule a c section. (Which I learned is protocol by 36 weeks for breech baby) ECV, but apparently, that's not going to happen for me. I decided to change doctors after my appointment was pushed out two weeks with not even a consideration, or a visit for my blood pressure, general vitals, weight and urine check. They just pushed me away. Called requesting medical records and they told me, "that'll be a 30 day process" I was a registered nurse, and I'm VERY AWARE of HIPPA laws. They are using stalling tactics to keep patients, at best. I understand the doctor may have had a family situation and that is unfortunate. All of the other lies, and negligence from the staff and scheduling crew are totally unacceptable. Reported the office to the Board and… also my insurance group.

Fantastic Doctor! Really cares about his patients. His staff is just as good. I've had 2 high risk pregnancies and he and his staff were amazing answering all my questions and helping me get back on my feet after the c-sections! Extremely recommend him!

I can only comment on my experiences, so I'll try to keep it short. I came across Dr. Rizos in the ER of st. Anthonys in 2008. My doc at the time was a bunch of idiots out of Valpo who failed to do a d&c correctly. I've never met a doc who was as caring or compassionate as he was w/me and my hubby. I love his attention to detail, his patience, his amazing sense of humor. As for his nurses...Sandi and Lisa are wonderful. They've gone above and beyond any doctor and staff that I can honestly say that I love them w/all my heart. If I didn't have the amazing support of this doctor and staff, I know I wouldn't have my daughter after the loss of our other babies. There's not enough time in the day for a team that's as dedicated as Rizos to tell you how AMAZING AND WONDERFUL they are.

I have had Dr Rizos with several pregnancies. He is very thorough and makes sure to leave no questions unanswered. He is not the type to wait around and see what will happen so to speak, he is very proactive in making decisions. He is "medical" and will make decisions based on what he feels is safest for the baby and mother so if you are looking for a Dr that takes more natural/holistic approach, then he is probably not for you. He has always spent more than enough time at each appt and I never felt rushed. The medical assistant and office staff are wonderful and always have returned calls in a timely manor and checked with the Dr if I had a question. However,when I have found myself dealing with the nurse, my experience has been quit the opposite. If I had questions or concerns she clearly would not ask the Dr before giving me her "opinion" and many times it would contradicted what the Dr would say. I agree with a previous comment be very careful when dealing with the nurse and… request that the Dr himself call you with results, information, etc. The dr also has a great sense of humor which i have found comforting in uncomfortable situations. I would recommend him but again caution women to be careful when dealing with the nurse.

Dr Rizos was the absolute best doctor. I am a very anxious person and he cared for me with kid gloves. Both my husband and I are wary of doctors and initially saw him to "check him out" early in my pregnancy. We wanted to make sure I saw the right doctor and he was the first one we talked to ... He was also the last! Instantly, we both knew that he was the doctor that would give me and our unborn child the best possible care. Dr. Rizos was very caring and compassionate and I felt very comfortable with him and his nurses. The follow up care after my pregnancy was great! He is definitely one of a kind!!

Rizos is very nice. He's kind and caring. Very friendly and polite. I like him a lot. HOWEVER, What I do not like, is that when there was an ultrasound result that came back questionable, his nurse called me and gave me an explanation and instructions, telling me not to panic, but sent me into a full fleged panic for a week. I am prone to anxiety and panic attacks anyway, and when I was told that my cervix was thinning and seemed to be shortening, but not to worry until I see the specialist, I wasn't satisfied, so I did some internet research. What I found sent me into hysterics, as it gave me the name "Incompetent cervix" and listed some grim outcomes. Not only that, but I was instructed by the nurse and later by the medical assistant to do nothing but lie around and rest' no work, no school, no shopping, no cleaning, nothing. I ended up losing my job over it, permanently. I saw the specialist, and he told me my cervix was completely normal. You know what would've been nice? A lengthy… and thorough explanation from the doctor himself. When I go back and see him on Monday, I'm going to give him explicit instructions on how to handle any further situation that may arise: CALL ME YOURSELF!

I love Dr Rizzos. He delievered my baby last year and I couldnt be more happy with the choice I made. Although Dr Rizzos does make some weird faces sometimes it just how he is. His nursing staff is great. I was considered a little high risk in the last trimester so I had to go in twice a week. It made me feel a lot better knowing that he was keeping on top of things. I would recommended him to anyone he is great!

I have recommended my friends and family to Dr. Rizos, and they are now his patients !!!

1st appt was ok, except he would look confused at me when I gave him a more unusual symptom. Also, during an exam he looked at my breast and mad a weird face, like what's that - that was enough to make me feel uncomfortable not to mention he never addressed the thing that he must have found odd. He's not the 1st OB I've seen, so I know what I own isn't that odd as no one else has done that or brought it up for concern. Needless to say, he was not a doctor for me. And I will never go back, I prefer a doctor not make odd faces at me when talking or examining me.
