Dr. Stephen Neree Alix, MD

My wife and I were CU Internal Medicine patients for 25 years. We recently had to choose a new primary care doctor; unfortunately we choose Dr Stephen Alix. A few months ago, 6 days before a scheduled 14 hour flight to Europe, I tired to see Alix for a server cough - I did not want to travel while sick. I could not see him but did see a PA instead. After 3 days, my cough worsened and developed into pleurisy. I called his office a number of times over the next three days trying to get medication for my cough. During this time, he twice sent me prescriptions for wrong medications. Once for meds that my records say "do not prescribe" and once for meds that would aggravate a cough - per my pharmacist wife. One day before my flight I called the office again asking "what was gong on"? I needed to know if Alix would prescribe cough medication or not so I could go to an emergency room to get a prescription. Nurse said 'Dr Alix says he does not prescribe codeine… medications'. He never told me this, never explained his prescription mistakes, nothing!, as a patient I was abandoned. I got some cough syrup and an ACE chest bandage for my pleurisy the evening before my flight, no thanks to Alix. My wife & I changed doctors.

Dr. Alix is what every primary care physician should be. He listens, is thorough, knows how to use medications wisely and has great communication with his patients.

I have been suffering with extreme weight loss, fatigue, abdominal pain, etc. for over a year. My old primary kept ordering blood tests, but did nothing else and I was at the point of extreme worry and frustration. I was referred to Dr. Alix and got an appt. right away. He spent a long time with my husband and myself going over my medical history and my current symptoms. He had blood drawn and called me the next day with the results. He also set up an appt. for a CT scan of my abdomen & pelvic area and called me with the results. He then referred me to a GI doc for a colonoscopy and endoscopy - got me in immediately for the procedures, which were performed yesterday. Dr. Alix assured me that "we are going to get to the bottom of this" - I feel that someone is finally listening to me and is honestly interested and concerned about my symptoms. Would highly recommend!

He is the best

I did not care for Dr. Alix because he looks for the easiest way out by giving a prescription immediately and referring to another Dr. before he really knows what is wrong with you.

Great IM doctor who listens to his patients and doesn't make them sit in the waiting room. My last PCP had a closed mind and became loud when any other opinion was expressed about care. Dr. Alix actually researches medications!
