Dr. Stephen Barry Archer, MD

Dr Archer is by far the worst surgeon. I have suffered from complications from the gallbladder surgery that he performed nearly eight years ago. I woke up post surgery hearing the nurses saying how badly they felt for me after what he did. He did so much damage during the surgery that it took 3.5 hours longer than normal because he could not stop my internal bleeding. He cut into the bile duct, my liver, an artery and a vein. Whoops! My best guess is that his bedside manor came from working in a concentration camp because why else would he tell me to stop complaining about the pain when moving me post op. The guy is rude to top it off. I always wondered how doctors that worked for Hitler could be so cruel and hateful. Maybe he could explain why he is so incredibly cruel and we could get a bit of understanding. Dr Butcher oh I mean Archer, if you are reading this just remember that I have not forgotten what you did! You at some point will lose your license to practice. The nurses in the… ER know all about you and someone will eventually tell on you.

As long as Archer can make money off you and you have no long term post surgery complications, he's your best friend. He enjoys parading his 'successful' patients. Otherwise, you're on your own. I do not recommend having Bariatric surgery unless you have insurance coverage. Archer will take your 'pound of flesh' and money above all other considerations. A simple online background check will reveal a great deal.

My husband and I were first seen by Dr. Archer in 2008 weighing 296 and 256 respectively, with all the co morbidities associated with morbid obesity including type ll diabetes, high blood pressure and high triglycerides. Dr. Archer and his staff were thorough, non judgmental and supportive. We were given all the information we needed to make an informed decision and made to understand our responsibiilty with respect to our care. Ten years later, Jim and I maintain a weight of 146 and 125 pounds, are in excellent health and are able to look forward to many years together. I would recommend Dr. Archer to anyone without reservation.

Great person and surgery was an ease. I would recommend him to anyone that needed general surgery or otherwise.

Only good things to say. He was a great listener and technically very good. Good surgeon.

I've seen doctors that make me feel like a burden. He made me feel like I should as a patient, important and like he was working for me. He is the most skilled laparoscopic surgeon in Bend which means small incisions that don't hurt as much. Honestly, if you need surgery go see him. He is da bomb.:)
