Dr. Stephen Wheeler Behrman, MD

Very rude !!

Very rude and condescending. I come from the medical field in surgery and I can personally say that he is one of the most unkind surgeons I’ve had the displeasure of meeting. Nothing about his mannerisms is kind.

Dr.Behrman is a phenomenal surgeon. He goes above and beyond for his patients. I had a Whipple surgery done by him in 2008. I was in the hospital thru Christmas. On Christmas day he came to my room, sat down and visited with me as though we were family. His bedside manner and compassion are exceptional. He literally saved my life. That was 8 years ago. I highly recommend him to anyone needing his services. Thank you Dr. Behrman.

He operated on my daughter who was diagnosed with rectal cancer in 2000, giving her a colostomy and saving her life. He is the only surgeon I would want for my family!

Dr. Behrman is an excellent doctor, especially if you have pancreatic cancer. He performs a Whipple Surgery on me in 2014 and his expertise is top-notch. It's 2016 now and he is still answering questions and making himself available for advice when I need it. He doesn't just drop you. I feel he cares now even though he makes no money when I call. He truly cares about his patients and show it with compassion and respect. He is the finest doctor I have ever had.

We drove to Memphis from Nashville to get a second option in regards to my dads Whipple procedure. My dad ultimately decided to do the surgery in Nashville in order to be closer to home. Regardless, I will never forget Dr. Behrman. The man is so compassionate, personable, and knowledgable. He is everything you want in a surgeon especially if a Whipple is needed. What touched me the most was the fact that he still stayed in touch and provided words of encouragement when my dad was having complications in Nashville. Dr. Behrman, thank you for being there during those tough times. I will never forget your acts of kindness. You are truly an amazing human being.

Dr. Behrman is simply the most professional yet caring physicians I have encountered. When my mother was diagnosed with bile duct cancer at 77, the hospital wanted to operate immediately. We said no. We were referred to another hospital for a "specialty surgeon". That surgeon barely introduced himself and told us to prepare for surgery on Monday. We cancelled the surgery because things were moving so fast. We researched online and found THE WHIPPLE SURGERY to be a VERY serious surgery. From our research, the success rate was highly dependent on the surgeon experience and the hospital (TEAM) experience. We asked our surgeon for the number of Whipple Surgeries performed and he replied "1". We checked out- literally. We asked for a surgeon with more experience. He got upset with us but eventually called back and referred us to Dr. Behrman. Upon his arrival, he greeted us slowly, professionally, and was prepared to literally draw the surgery area and fully explain all options,… possibilities, and expectations. He was the most thorough I have experienced in a physician. Next, we asked him how many Whipple Surgeries he had performed and he replied "oh, about 80-100 this year but I can get you exact numbers if needed". We felt blessed in his presence. In fact, we asked if he was a Christian and he said "yes". His nurse called every hour during surgery. After surgery, he treated my mother VIP! He demanded VIP treatment from his team and you could tell they highly respected him from admitting to ICU to regular floors. There is something very unique about this surgeon. I'm not sure but he has a great spirit - if you are a Christian, you will appreciate it when you recognize it.

Dr. Behrman is sooo nice. He treated me at the hospital and at my dr visit like I'm the only patient he had. I really appreciated how he and his team were waiting on me to get to Baptist East from Batesville Ms. Thanks guys. Dr. Behrman, you're the greatest and the bestie st (lol). I love you and thanks for saving my life. Thanks thanks and thank you....
