Dr. Stephen Francis Caldwell

About Dr. Caldwell
Dr. Caldwell was born in Detroit, Michigan, and attended the University of Detroit High School before moving to Massachusetts in 1967 to study at Boston College.
In 1971, he graduated from B.C., receiving his Bachelor of Arts (B.A.) degree magna cum laude, Phi Beta Kappa. In 1973, he earned a Master of Arts (M.A.) degree from the University of Virginia, where he studied English Literature.
Dr. Caldwell obtained his dental and orthodontic training from the University of Michigan School of Dentistry. After being awarded his Doctor of Dental Surgery (D.D.S.) degree in 1978, he completed a one-year hospital-based general practice residency at Alameda County’s Highland General Hospital in Oakland, California, which offered him broad experience in many specialty areas of medicine and dentistry, especially oral surgery. Thereafter, while in part-time general dental practice in Michigan, he pursued a Master of Science degree in orthodontics, which he completed at the …University of Michigan in 1982. His research thesis, written for this degree, was published in the American Journal of Orthodontics. In the summer of 1982, Dr. Caldwell returned to New England to open his practice.
Dr. Caldwell and his wife, Brenda, have two children. He enjoys travel, skiing, hiking, sea-kayaking, music and reading.
About the Staff at Derry Orthodontics
Dr. Caldwell and his staff are committed to maintaining the highest standards of professionalism and patient care, while also being personable and making sure that the office is a welcoming environment for our patients, whether they are children or adults.
In addition to Dr. Caldwell’s 27 years of practice in Derry, our two clinical staff members have credentials as certified orthodontic assistants and have over 35 years of combined experience in orthodontic care. One of our assistants has completed additional formal education and training, and has been licensed by the state of New Hampshire as a registered dental hygienist for more than twenty years.
Our two business administration staff members have extensive business education and experience. They coordinate patients’ appointments, assist with insurance claims and accounting matters, ensure proper communications with dentists and other specialists, and provide information to facilitate treatment. All of our staff attend continuing education courses pertaining to various aspects of operating an orthodontic practice.
