The office and his behavior failed to meet the minimally acceptable standard of anyone seeking weight loss consultation or surgery. I expected professionalism , follow ups and empathy including, but not limited to generally returning my calls. I trusted Dr. Carryl and his staff opinions help and prescribe treatments. From our initial consultation, he wanted me to try a raw 20-day diet follow the D-Herb plan $120 which is not FDA approved or cover by insurance . I purchases the package and was told after 20days I should start appetite suppressants phentermine. However, after purchasing the D-Herb I never heard from the doctor again . I called his office on numerous occasion and left several emails. Three weeks later I was able to speak with his secretary Octavia, whom stated “they are conflicting notes on your file; continue the raw diet and I will contact you when I hear from the doctor”. A week later after constantly attempting to reach Dr. Carryl, Octavia said to me , “ in order… to receive the appetite suppressants you need cardiologists clearance”. A great disappointment word that could of been conversed a month earlier. Now it’s been 2 months I gained back an additional 10pounds, purchased a plan that technically was pointless because Dr.Carryl and his staff failed to acknowledge our diet plan , goals and agreement. There conduct was harmful to the health, safety, and welfare of my well being mentally and physically . Their incompetence negatively fitness and health. If they did not want or cared for me a patient or client they should have referred me to another Doctor of help rather then ignore this opportunity to help someone.

My mom had the bariatric surgery last year under Dr. Carryls care and now she's dead, I would not recommend this surgeon to anyone

Dr. Stephen S. Carryl is the far most best male doctor regarding bariatric surgery. I have known him over 30 years. My mom was his first patient at Brookdale hospital in Brooklyn, NY for gastric bypass surgery in the1980's. He is very informative and professional with his patients on ever level. Regarding the staff they need more training on how to deal with the public. Especially, the front desk staff they must have courtesy for all patients. I'm honored to say he will be doing my gastric bypass surgery at the end of this month.

I met with another surgeon who told me he could do my Bariatric surgery quick that he had people in place to "fix" my documents to push the process faster. I ran out of there like a bat out of H-E-Double- hockey sticks! I spoke with my PCP who referred me to Dr. Carryl for bariatric surgery. The moment I called his office on Hansen pl to set up an apointment I was treated with kindness. The staff are ALL great! However Dr. Carryl takes the cake. He sat with me and answered all of my questions and concerns. He gave me his professional opinion on which surgery best suited me and let me tell you. That was the best decision I made for my life. He did my gastric sleeve surgery at Methodist Hospital in Brooklyn. His bedside manner after surgery was phenomenal. He made sure I was taken care of in the hospital, the nurses were amazing and the care was excellent. He made sure I was at ease before surgery and after surgery. I highly recommend him for bariatric surgery. I tell EVERYONE to visit… his office because he changed my life for good. My highest weight was 235 im 4'11 and I currently weigh 160. I look and feel good. All thanks to the Doctor and his great staff.

my experience was bad.yes he did the surgery well but never did he see me before the surgery.then after the surgery not once did he come to my hospital room and check on me.The office visit were never with him.I never seen him in his office he has a physician's assistant in his office.there is no personal connect with his patience what so ever.I would not recommend him to anyone.
