Dr. Stephen Mark Cohen, MD

I often refer to Dr Cohen as my guardian angel. I had endometriosis on my colon and no other doctors took seriously except for the endometriosis specialist that referred me to him. Dr Cohen was always super attentive and really listened. He literally saved my life. Afterwards, he keep a close eye on me and always worked me in when problems arose. He has the absolute best bedside manner of any doctor I have encountered. I literally cried when he left GA.

Heard he is moving to VA, well patient beware. He does not listen well, nor does he care about your very personal issues. He convinced me to have a device implanted and will not remove it. Cant seem to get my medical records due to staff not answering or returning calls. Now I need to find another doctor to remove this device and hopefully find the correct treatment for my condition. DO NOT RECOMMEND this doctor. He is supposed to be a specialist, really?

In 2002, after having seen numerous doctors and being given prescriptions without their even looking at my rectum, a doctor finally referred me to Stephen Cohen. Those kinds of visits are embarrassing enough; however, Dr. Cohen had great bedside manners, listened, LOOKED at my rectum,and did surgery two days later (only because my insurance wouldn't take where he was the day following my visit). The surgery was a great success! Then, two years ago I started having re tal bleeding. Same story. . . So, I went back to Dr.Cohen. Now, I have torn my rectum again (no colon, so constant bowel movements cause issues). I have appointment in the morning. His success rate speaks for itself! He can't change my health issues,but he at least cares enough to listen and get rid of the pain caused from them.

Oh I was very very terrified knowing they had just diagnosed me as having colon cancer! I had no systoms and felt fine!! Well the previous doctors referred me to Dr. Cohen and what a fine doctor he is! He immediately brought comfort and helped to my mind! He made me feel very relaxed and unafraided! Well its been a year now since I had my colon surgery and I am on the road of recovery! I want to expecially thank Dr. Cohen being so understanding and kind! He explained everything to me while I was going through the process! Very professional!

I scheduled an appointment to get a routine colonoscopy.I explained that to the staff at time of appointment scheduling & to the Dr during his 5 mins with me. I spent nearly 2 hrs in the waiting room before I saw him. Again I wait to see scheduling nurse & ask why he's put a notation about diverticulitus on the papers. Again I explain that I came in because it's been 10 yrs since I had a colonoscopy and that according to my insurance this needs to be coded as "routine." No one listens or cares, they refused to change it. This failure to listen cost me well over $1k out of pocket and should have been 100% covered if coded properly. The routine colonoscopy result was normal.

A really good Dr. Would have preferred for him to spend a little more time with me. But realizing that he has tons of patients and can only spend 5 minutes with each. I would guess that is the price we pay for an excellent Doctor. Would recommend him to anyone and have.

Dr Cohen has done multiple surgeries on me since being diagnosed with Crohn's disease in 2002. Very professioanl and caring Dr. with a great sense of humor. Keep doing what you're doing!

Saved my wife's life after 2 botched surgery by another Dr. While in the waiting room I heard one miracle story after another of how he had done what no other Dr. could do.

I went to Cohen after another doctor did my surgeries, which was removing my colon and making me a j-pouch. I was still having problems and in a lot of pain, my other doctor didn't know what else to do, so I went to Cohen. He didn't spend hardly anytime with me to talk about what was wrong with me or didn't ask what my pains felt like. He just examed me and jumped to wanting to do a surgery on me, after the first visit. Then when the surgery was suppose to heal me and relieve my pain and it DIDN'T, I told him I was still hurting and he SCREAMED at me, for asking if there was anything else he could do. I was really embrassed, he screamed so loud that when I went into the hallway, where the exam rooms are everyone there just stared at me. I will never go back there.
