Dr. Stephen Bir Evans, MD

Very thorough, caring, knowledgeable doctor. He explains procedures and doesn’t rush the visit. I highly recommend him.

He spent time with me and discussed the options. He understood situations that were happening at the time and talked with me about them. Would go back if I ever needed to.

I had seen Dr. Evans after having a horrific time with another hand doctor in ohio that had a horrible arrogant attitude to most everyone who he comes in contact with and was not properly treating me or giving me the surgery i needed to repair my hand from a workers comp injury that he had been treating me for since 1 week after the initial injury. The previous dr was not pleased with how much money he would be paid to do the corrective surgery, so instead giving me bi monthly injections that took approx 45 seconds to administer and then paid close to $1000 for this simple in office procedure. This had gone on for over 2 years, after the first injection if the issue is not corrected, then surgery is the only way to repair this condition. After reviewing drs that are highly spoken of (rated by patients) , and also accept ohio workers comp claims, i choose to drive over 2 hours and change physicians to Dr Evans. I was very pleased with his professionalism at the appt, and he quickly… diagnosed me as without a doubt needing this surgery, along with a correction surgery to amputate more of my finger due to a botched surgery from my previous Dr. I was ready to schedule to have the outpatient surgery done, and agreed that would all be scheduled as soon as all the ohio workers comp papers were changed to him as my phys on file. Approx 1.5 months later , after the paperwork had finally been changed, when I called to schedule another office visit to touch base and schedule the operation, I was scheduled over one month out and his secretary Amber, was beyond unusal on the phone , giving me the question of "why are you calling here?''. Numerous days after speaaking with her, i obtained the records and notes from him that he had recently sent to ohio workers comp, and was beyond floored at what he sent in his report. Complete 180 of what had transpired during the initial office visit. Noted that he had spoken with me about a possible correction, but he didnt feel it be done, and I also agree that, and i would think about it in the future, along with the closing comment that he had "dismissed me from his practice". Needless to say, im obviously not going to have a doctor that says one thing to your face and after you leave documents the opposite, and him clearly not even wanting my business. Unless you are paying out of pocket with cash, i would steer clear for your own heath. If a doctor will lie to any patients to be on your insurance companies side instead of giving you the medical that you need, its time to find another physician, or possibly find legal representation if you have already had work done by this man.

had a real problem with the answering service. They told me his secretary was busy and would return my call. Three hours later I called back and they told me they were'nt in the office today. Very unprofessional and rude. Refused to tell me why they had told me earlier that the doctors secretary would be calling me back. This is troubling because my elderly mother is getting ready to have hand surgery and we had questions that went unanswered. I rearranged my whole morning so I would be available to talk to the doctor and his secretary all for nothing. Left a message at ten a.m. for doctor to return my call. Never heard from him. Did the answering service give him my message? They wouldn't tell me.

Dr. Evans Is very caring takes his time in examining you. You don't spend lots of time in the waiting area.

I really think Dr. Evans is one of the best doctors in the state of Ohio. He is one of the most caring doctors I have ever met and his performance is the best. I would reccommend this doctor to anyone.
