Dr. Stephen P Girdlestone, DDS

I cannot say enough great things about Dr. Girdlestone and his staff! The girls in the front office are always so nice and willing to help. I had some billing issues with my insurance and they worked with my insurance to clear it up. Dr Girdlestone is always so gentle and caring with my son. He takes the time to answer all my questions and address my concerns. My pediatrician referred me to Dr. Girdlestone after I expressed my concerns about out previous dentist. My son was terrified of him and was always afraid to go to the dentist. Ever since we switched to Dr Girdlestone those fears have disappeared! I would highly recommend this office they are the best!

I took my 2 year old for his first visit. The staff and the Doctor were so great with him. It was a great way to start off my son actually like going to the dentist. It was the most kid friendly office I have ever been too. He got to watch a movie while the dentist checked his teeth and after he got to go their prize room. It was awesome.

My 1 year old daughter fell and chipped her front teeth. I called the office and they got her in right away. As worked up and nervous as I was, they were great with her and also helping me calm down and understanding.. Everyone was very kind. I def will contueing bringing her to Dr. Girdlestone office.

Great experience

Dr. Girdlestone, being a "pediatric dentist," was recommended by my primary dentist to see my daughter when she came home from China at 4 years old. Scheduling and providing my insurance information was my first indicator to run, as the receptionist displayed her incompetency multiple times during my phone call to get the appointment set up. "Give him a chance," I thought. My daughter had never received dental care but had undergone open heart surgery after waiting in the hospital 10 months for enough donations to receive said surgery. I thoroughly explained her situation to each of the staff I had to deal with and expressed that she would need some extra TLC, as she had only been home from China 2 weeks at the time of her appointment. She spoke no English, was terrified, and every time we brushed her teeth (which were in horrible shape with calcification and decay), they would bleed terribly, and she would cry and tremble. The hygienists insisted that I hold her down to assist them in… restraining her so they could brush her teeth, which to this day I regret terribly. They brushed her teeth with her flat on her back and fighting to get free. When I asked how she was supposed to rinse, they looked at me like I was from Mars. Who brushes their teeth flat on their back and then swallows a mouth full of toothpaste and blood?!? My daughter was screaming and trembling; I was trying to explain that this was very traumatic for her; and in walks the doctor. He did not introduce himself or be kind to my daughter. The first words out of his mouth were, "She's just being dramatic." True story! He then proceeded to tell me how they would have to sedate her for a comprehensive exam, X-rays, cleaning, and multiple fillings. This, of course, would run us several thousand dollars, which I would need to pay in full several weeks before the appointment, or they would cancel her appointment. I immensely regretted not walking out of that office that day. It was my duty to protect my poor terrified child, and I fell guilty to the pressures of not offending "the doctor." It took a new dentist multiple visits, that she offered to do once a month for free just so my daughter could get used to going to the dentist's office, to get her to the point where she wouldn't freak out as soon as she saw the office. It's still a rough experience, but she's treated with love. Our experience with Dr. Girdlestone was over 2 years ago, and to this day, I still regret it.
